  • Proof of residence in Guyana (less than three months old)
  • Non-sale certificate
  • Certificate of property
  • Work permit
  • Proof of employment
  • Customs bond
  • Letter authorizing Destination Agent to clear shipment
  • C72 Customs Form


In Guyana, the following articles are prohibited for importation under any circumstances:
  • Narcotics and illegal drugs
  • Knives and other dangerous weapons
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Pornography


Some articles are limited to maximum quantities or require special authorization/payments of duties and taxes to clear customs. These items include, but are not limited to:
  • Tobacco
  • Perfume
  • Wine and spirits

  • Only one vehicle is permitted
  • Vehicles are highly taxed
  • Vehicle engine must be over 2,000 CC

  • Without a certificate of change of residence and registration card, the Octrio de Mer (22 percent) of the CAF value must be paid prior to arrival of the vehicle

  • Authorization prior to the arrival of the animal
  • Quarantine is not required
  • Import permit required
  • Certificate of vaccination (your dog or cat must be vaccinated no more than 30 days prior to entry)
  • Dogs and cats are permitted unrestricted entry from the following scheduled rabies free countries: Barbados, Eire, Jamaica, Suriname and the United Kingdom
  • Dogs and cats from any other country are subject to up to three months at the Government's Quarantine Station
  • Guyana Veterinary Certificate is required (a USDA or CFIA licensed veterinarian should complete and endorse the form if you are moving from the United States or Canada)
  • A copy of the Rabies Certificate is required
  • Your pet will be inspected at the airport by an assigned veterinarian before customs grants clearance (veterinarian must be notified at least 24 hours prior to your pet's arrival)
