DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY

When moving to Guyana, you will need:
  • Passport (copy)
  • Packing list
  • Original inventory (in French, dated, valued and signed by the shipper)
  • Original Bill of Lading/ Air Waybill
  • Certificate of change of residence /certificate of transfer (without this, shipper must pay the Octroi de Mer --between 12 and 22 percent of the CAF value)
  • Proof of residence in Guyana (less than three months old)
  • Non-sale certificate
  • Certificate of property
  • Work permit
  • Proof of employment
  • Customs bond
  • Letter authorizing Destination Agent to clear shipment
  • C72 Customs Form

PROHIBITED ITEMS

In Guyana, the following articles are prohibited for importation under any circumstances:
  • Narcotics and illegal drugs
  • Knives and other dangerous weapons
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Pornography

RESTRICTED ITEMS

Some articles are limited to maximum quantities or require special authorization/payments of duties and taxes to clear customs. These items include, but are not limited to:
  • Tobacco
  • Perfume
  • Wine and spirits
  • Firearms and ammunitions (authorization required from the territorial administration)
  • Weapons, explosives and ammunition (authorization required from the territorial administration)
  • Plant materials (Import permit required)
  • Fresh and raw meat (Import permit and inspection by qualified official required)
  • Fresh fruit
  • Organic and inorganic fertilizers
  • Makeup and cosmetics

MOTOR VEHICLE REGULATIONS

If you are planning to ship your automobile to Guyana, you'll require the services of experienced and reliable international vehicle shippers with knowledge of automobile shipping laws and customs regulations.

The requirements for importing your vehicle into Guyana are:
  • Only one vehicle is permitted
  • Vehicles are highly taxed
  • Vehicle engine must be over 2,000 CC
  • Special permit and advance notice is required
  • Without a certificate of change of residence and registration card, the Octrio de Mer (22 percent) of the CAF value must be paid prior to arrival of the vehicle
You will need the following documents:
  • Original registration and title
  • Purchase invoice
  • Certificate of insurance
  • Non-sale certificate

PETS AND ANIMAL REGULATIONS

Your pet is an important part of the family, so you want to ensure that he or she will clear customs. To successfully cross Guyanese borders with your furry friend, the requirements are:
  • Authorization prior to the arrival of the animal
  • Quarantine is not required
  • Import permit required
  • Certificate of vaccination (your dog or cat must be vaccinated no more than 30 days prior to entry)
  • Dogs and cats are permitted unrestricted entry from the following scheduled rabies free countries: Barbados, Eire, Jamaica, Suriname and the United Kingdom
  • Dogs and cats from any other country are subject to up to three months at the Government's Quarantine Station
  • Guyana Veterinary Certificate is required (a USDA or CFIA licensed veterinarian should complete and endorse the form if you are moving from the United States or Canada)
  • A copy of the Rabies Certificate is required
  • Your pet will be inspected at the airport by an assigned veterinarian before customs grants clearance (veterinarian must be notified at least 24 hours prior to your pet's arrival)
