CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
- CUSTOMER MUST BE IN COUNTRY
AT TIME OF CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
- USED HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND
PERSONAL EFFECTS DUTY-FREE IF:
- Arriving within six months of
Customer
- Were owned by Customer for a
minimum of six months and are for Customer's own use
- Goods are not sold or disposed of
while in Malawi
- Are in reasonable quantities
- Shipments may be inspected
DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS
- Items owned less than six
months
- Books/magazines subject to
censorship
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- Firearms are subject to Police
Permit
- Ammunition
- Radio equipment
- Pornographic material
- Plants/seeds
MOTOR VEHICLES
- Value may not exceed K500
- One auto per family
- Auto must have been owned and used by
Customer for a year or more prior to importation or arrival of the Customer
and can not be lent or sold within one year of Customs clearance

- Import Permit obtained from the
Veterinary Department is required
- Copies of Vaccination
