Customs Regulations applicable while shipping to Senegal

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  • Valued inventory
  • Customs Declaration (in French) stating age of goods and intended use
  • Original invoices to document age and value of goods
  • "Certificat de Changement de Residence" issued by the Senegal Consulate
  • Shipments destined for Mali must be declared as "Marchandises en transit pour le Mali."

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS

  • All household goods should be a minimum of six months old and owner must declare they are not for sale
  • All shipments inspected
  • Customs Stamp for all goods (including diplomats and United Nations personnel) must be paid for before shipment is released from arrival port (rates vary)

DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS

  • All goods less than six months in owner's possession (and any others if purchase invoice not available)
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Drugs
  • Antiques, art objects, jewelry
  • Bicycles, windsurfers, motorcycles

PROHIBITED ITEMS

  • Weapons and ammunition
  • New computers and accessories
  • More than 10 bottles of alcohol and wine

MOTOR VEHICLES

  • Cars and trucks over five years old are prohibited
  • One vehicle admitted per family
  • Customer must arrange for Senegalese Insurance before the shipment moves from the port of arrival
  • Autos for diplomats, United Nations or military personnel are permitted
  • Documents required:
    • Purchase Invoice
    • Log Book/Registration Card
