Moving Tips & Guides
Tips for Moving in the Summer
Typically the most popular season of the year to move, the summer is when most moving companies get inundated with appointments from people looking to relocate during a laid-back time of the year when schools are out and the weather is nice. Of course, as with any move, moving during the summer can have its challenges and difficulties, so familiarizing yourself with them can help you become better prepared.
Always Look into Added Insurance ...
When hiring a moving company, be sure to familiarize yourself with their insurance policies and what they do and do not cover during a move. Some companies only offer a small amount of reimbursement for items that become damaged during a move (only 60 cents per pound!). Making sure you know ahead of time what percentage of your items will be covered may make your decision easier.
Be Wary of Fake Reviews
If a moving company has all positive reviews that rate their service 5 stars for everything, chances are some of them may be fake. Fake reviews will often be very descriptive (they know every crew member by name), repetitive, too positive or negative, and use uncommon language. Learning how to spot fake reviews will help your search immensely.
Keep your movers happy
There are some things you simply shouldn’t say to your movers on moving day. Your movers are sometimes hired laborers who have little to do with the moving company so complaining about other aspects of the move will not help you. Keep this in mind when dealing with them. Also, be sure to give them plenty of space, but still supervise and direct them as needed. Happy movers are more likely to do a better job.
Always Check a Moving Company’s ...
Make sure your interstate mover is reliable by verifying their USDOT number on the FMCSA website.
