Moving Tips & Guides
What are Stair Carries?
Also known as a flight carry, a stair carry is when your movers have to bring your belongings up or down at least one flight of stairs. Since moving things up and down a flight of stairs requires a lot more time and labor, most moving companies will charge you an extra fee for stair carries. Any reputable moving company will tell you about these fees ahead of time, usually at the time of the estimate.
Benefits of Full Service Moves
Full service moves are defined as a service which encompass all of the primary aspects of the moving process, like packing, loading, shipping, delivery, unpacking and assembly. A full service move covers all of your bases and is extremely convenient. If you’re contemplating hiring a full-service moving company, read about all of the possible benefits of full service moves right here.
Always Check References and Reviews
You want trustworthy people handling your move. One of the best ways to find out is to check reviews and references. A reputable company will have no problem sharing references with you. Doing a quick internet search can also shed light on shady companies. The Better Business Bureau is always a good place to start a search.
Pickup and Delivery Service
Want to have all of your boxes loaded onto a truck and driven to your destination, without the expenses of a full-service move? Then consider using a pickup and delivery service from your moving company. With this option, you simply pack everything yourself, and the movers will come to your house, place the goods in the truck, drive to your destination, and then unload everything.

Amazing job
North Van Lines Inc
We moved from Astoria, NY to Atlanta, GA so easily only because of North van lines. These guys were just amazing. They were punctual and responsive. They listened to all our instructions and requests. All our furniture was wrapped in shrinking tapes and other stuffs were packed into boxed. It sometimes seemed like they were using too much packing materials. But it only helped safeguarding our valuables. I received the delivery on time and in great condition. I just dont know how to properly thank these guys for the amazing job they did.

Great Move
International Van Lines Inc
I was very impressed seeing how efficiently the movers from International van lines worked during my move from New York, NY to Linden, NJ. They arrived on time with all the right tools. The men were all very experienced. They carried my big pieces of furniture quite easily down two sets of stairs. The company employs men who are very experienced. They delivered on time and nothing was damaged. This really was a stellar performance by these movers.

Moving to New York?

When most people think of New York, they think of the bustling metropolis of New York City, with his culturally and historically rich boroughs filled with vibrant activity and nonstop excitement. But outside of the city, one of the cultural centers of the entire world and easily one of the most desirable and awe-inspiring places, is an entire state that is just as diverse and beautiful as the city itself.

New York state, which is one of the largest in the country in land size, spans hundreds of miles and stretches across mountain ranges, lakes and rural landscapes that go from Pennsylvania to Vermont and even as far north as Canada. There truly is a little something for everyone in New York, no matter what type of living you prefer.

If you’re moving to New York, there are a lot of things you’re going to need to know. Luckily, you’ve come to the right place.

Things to Know When Moving to New York

New York Climate

  • New York has a widely varying climate that differs depending on where in the vast state you are located. For example, the mild temperatures of New York City tend to mirror those of surrounding suburban areas in New Jersey and Connecticut, with high temperatures and high humidity in the summer months and chilly, windy weather during the winter with scattered snowstorms. However, the upper reaches of New York State can be extremely harsh during the winter, with areas like Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse receiving regular snowfall from October through late March sometimes. • Real Estate: The average listing price for homes in New York is $715,566, while the median sales price is just over $350,000. The New York Association of Realtors is the official real estate resource for the state of New York.

Schools

  • The New York public school system spends more money per student than any other public education system in the nation. When it comes to secondary educational institutions, New York is the only state in the country with two Ivy League colleges in Columbia University and Cornell University. In addition, the State University of New York (SUNY) has campuses all over the state. Other notable colleges include St. John’s University, Siena College, Iona College, Hofstra University, the University of Albany, the University of Buffalo, Ithaca College, Syracuse University and NYU.
