Moving Tips & Guides
Keeping Your Movers Happy
Hiring movers to transport your goods will definitely make your moving day easier. Instead of carrying box after box onto the truck and then unloading box after box, you can have other people do this work for you. If you use professionals though, you'll want to make sure they are happy and able to do their job effectively and efficiently.
Truck Driver's Moving Day ...
The person driving the moving truck on your moving day has many responsibilities. Of course, their main duty is to transport your goods from place to place. Beyond this though, they must also maintain contact with the dispatcher, oversee the moving crew, and be a resource for any questions or concerns you may have during the move.
Miami Moving Guides and Tips
The sunshine state is a culturally diverse melting pot and people from all over flock to the sunny, sandy beaches of Miami for a relaxing, laid-back lifestyle that can't be found anywhere else. Prepare yourself for your move to Miami with the helpful tips and advice in this guide, so that you can be ready for anything that comes your way and so that you'll know exactly what to expect when you arrive in your new home in Miami.
Common Company Policies
If you’ll be using their packing services make sure that they do an in-house survey. It will give them a better idea of what you’ll be moving and you can ask them more questions. When loading and unloading they should have all the proper equipment to prevent damage to you items and to prevent injury to themselves and to you.
Be Wary of Rogue Movers
There are numerous unlicensed and unregistered moving companies waiting to scam customers. If a company offers an unusually low estimate, asks for a large cash deposit and an unmarked truck or rental truck, they may be unregistered or unlicensed. A common scam from these companies is low-balling the estimate and then demanding a greater amount when they show up, if the customer disputes the amount, the company will often hold the customers’ items hostage until they’re paid.

PrimeWay Movers
They were great. Very funny and respectful group of people. It made my move experience better than I thought it was going to be. I did so much research on people and couldn't figure out what would be best for me. I chose them mostly for there knowledge of brokers, packing etc. If I could give anyone advice just do your research and watch out for brokers or movers that give you low prices, it wont stay that way.

ABF U-Pack Moving
They showed up early, drove up over the weekend and got our stuff here earlier than we expected. We stuffed everything in the truck pretty tight, so our couch was a little damaged but we were happy with everything else.

Moving to Utah?

A land of sweeping vistas and breathtaking mountain views, Utah is a truly unique state that features vast swatches of uninhabited terrain left untouched and virtually pristine. Bordered by a total of six states (Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Arizona), Utah manages to gather a little bit of influence from each of these places.

The name Utah is derived from the Ute tribe that originally inhabited the state, and means “people of the mountains” in the indigenous language. With plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors and hike for days unencumbered before even coming close to modern civilization, Utah is the perfect place to enjoy all that nature has to offer, from hiking to skiing and everything in between. And for the city-loving types, Salt Lake City is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country.

If you’re moving to Utah, there are a lot of things you’re going to need to know. Luckily, you’ve come to the right place.

Things to Know When Moving to Utah

Utah Climate

  • Utah has a semi-arid desert climate that varies greatly depending on your location within the state and your elevation. The state lies in the rain shadow of both the Sierra Nevada mountain range and the Wasatch Mountains, so it does get its fair share of precipitation, particularly during the summer months. However, there is also a large portion of the state that remains fairly dry for most of the year, particularly the Great Salt Lake Desert. The mountainous areas of Utah do receive a large amount of snow during the winter months, lending to one of Utah’s main tourist attractions, its ski slopes. In the summer months, the temperatures can typically soar during the daytime, but tend to cool off substantially during the night. (Helpful Link: Utah Weather)

Moving Specifics

  • Registering your Car: Upon your arrival in Utah after moving to the state permanently, you have to immediately update your registration and have your vehicle registered in the state before you may be required to pay a penalty. If you cannot immediately register it, you can apply for a 15-day temporary permit. (Helpful Link: Utah DMV)

  • Obtaining a Utah Driver’s License: A Utah Driver’s License can be obtained at any Utah DMV location. The state requires new Utah residents to update their license from their previous state to a Utah driver’s license. You must present proof of your identity and proof of your residence in the state of Utah. Also, there is a $25 fee to update your driver’s license.

  • Real Estate: The average listing price for homes in Utah is $375,967, while the median sales price is just over $129,000. The Utah Association of Realtors is the official real estate resource for the state of Utah.

  • Moving and Storage: If you are looking for a moving company or storage facility to help you with anything, you should check to make sure the company is registered with the United States Department of Transportation or with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
