- Set a date for an on-sight inspection of your household goods to be moved with the mover and take an estimate from the mover.
- All goods to be moved must be shown to the mover. Do not add any things later. For the goods added later you will be charged extra.
- Discuss about the packing services with the mover. When done with the discussion and if you are happy with the deal let the paper work be done.
- Keep the phone number of the mover with you because it will always be of a great help.
- Ask your mover for a manual that informs of the goods that are allowed and the goods that are not allowed. Pack only according to list in the manual and make necessary arrangement to move the goods that are not allowed by the mover.
- Ask for “your Rights and Responsibilities” manual from your mover and read it carefully.
- Mark and show your mover all boxes that contain breakable and fragile goods. So that while loading them in the truck they will be handled carefully and kept of top.
- It is always good to update your mover about the additions and subtractions to your moving goods.
- If you need any extra pick up or delivery of the goods anywhere else other than the pickup point and delivery point inform your mover in advance.
- Make sure that you are around or authorize some one while the mover loads and arranges the goods.
- Make sure you sign all the needed papers before the move and collect papers which are to be shown while the goods are delivered.
- Always make sure you stay in touch with your mover while traveling (if you are moving separately) and make sure the mover knows the destination exactly.
