Hello, and thank you for visiting Movers.com!
I am very sorry to hear about your negative moving experience. Unfortunately, the moving industry is plagued by fraud and scams, which is why it is so important to conduct a background check on any company you are considering for hire.
Prestige Moving and Storage in Westlake Village has a long history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau--about half of which were resolved. I would suggest contacting the BBB and filing a complaint against Prestige Moving and Storage to attempt resolution. While the BBB cannot mandate the company to comply, they may be able help you establish contact. You can also contact the American Moving and Storage Association--you could qualify for their Arbitration program.
Unfortunately, if the company has disconnected their lines and their website has been shut down, they may have gone out of business and filing claims with these organizations could prove futile. If they are in illegal possession of your belongings, you can contact your state attorney general or consumer protection agency. You could also contact the police.
