When your budget is bleak the idea of coming up with enough money to move is stressful to say the least. Unless you have a generous family and friends who can financially help you, you may have to seek out available relocation assistance programs.

Before you seek help, first you will want to make a moving budget, which can't be done until you decide what type of service you will use. The type of service you choose will greatly affect how much moving will cost you, so you need to consider whether you are going to go with full-service or do it yourself. After you have decided, then you can see the exact amount of assistance you need.

Unless your employer has asked you to relocate and is offering to pay for your moving expenses or you are being removed from your property by the federal government under the Uniform Relocation and Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970,you may be left to your own devices, having to research local resources available to you and your family. Seeking assistance through social services, church organizations and any other non-profit entity are the best ways to begin seeking help.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development offers assistance for low-income, disabled or elder adults in need, however, if you do not fall into that category, you have to seek local resources. However, if you are in the military and are in need of assistance during a move, the Military Relocation Assistance Programs, offered at each individual branch of service, provides many services.

While you are seeking out assistance, know making a cheap move is possible if you decide to do it yourself. There are many ways you can cut back on moving costs when the move is in your own hands. Finding used boxes, packing yourself and personally loading the rental truck are just some ways to move cheap.

If you can find assistance and need to find a local moving company, visit Movers.com to compare company rates. If you choose a company, after you make your move please take a moment to fill out a moving review to help others who may need assistance as you did.
