The weight of your studio apartment depends on the amount and weight of the furniture you have. As a rough estimate, the average weight of a studio apartment is around
2,000 pounds.
Average weight and volume
When calculating the weight of your move, use the following equation:
amount of full sized rooms x 1,000 per room = how much weight you'll be moving
Although a studio apartment doesn't have separate rooms, you can count the sleeping and kitchen/living room spaces as full sized rooms. Two rooms, at 1,000 pounds each, would be 2,000 pounds to move.
In addition to the weight of your belongings, you should also calculate the volume of your furniture. Use a tape measure for all measurements. Multiple the length by the width and height, then divide by 1,728.
Extra fees for specialty items
Unique items like pianos and artwork might require special treatment when moving. Artwork, although probably not as heavy as a bed, will cost more to move because of its delicate nature. It is best to let the moving company know if you have large items outside the realm of run of the mill furniture.
