Somehow, Halloween music makes topics like zombies, werewolves, witches, vampires, and other macabre characters seem normal. There are many Halloween-themed tunes that you probably know, but maybe the following list has a few songs that you haven't heard.
  1. THRILLER, recorded by Michael Jackson

    International performer and superstar Michael Jackson has shaped generations of dancers and singers. News of his death was devastating to millions around the world, but his music is still being celebrated.

    "Thriller" is Michael Jackson's sixth studio album and the name of the popular single released on November 30, 1982.

    The song that opens with the lyrics, "It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark," is perfect for a Halloween song list.

    "Thriller" will always be a recognizable classic through its chorus:

  2. MONSTER MASH, recorded by Bobby "Boris" Pickett

    The only thing more terrifying than the 1978 horror film titled Halloween is its music.

    The infamous musical score, composed by John Carpenter, tauntingly plays during many of the film's scenes. Viewers can expect that at some point during the eerie jingle that someone will be "surprised" by the psychotic serial killer, Michael Myers.

    The score contains no lyrics, but the piano melody played in 10/8 meter is one of the most powerful elements of the film.

  4. GHOSTBUSTERS (FILM) SCORE, recorded by Ray Parker Jr.

    "Ghostbusters" is the theme song to the same-named film that hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984. The song even gained popularity overseas and reached the number two spot on the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in the same year.

    Screamin' Jay Hawkings recorded the song, "I Put a Spell on You," in 1956. Hawkings is known for being one of the first musicians to use Halloween and other macabre props on stage. His roaring performances inspired bands and singers, such as the Animals and Nina Simone, to also record the song.
