Maybe it's the eating habits of vampires or the travel methods of witches, but many people find monsters and mystical creatures alluring. It's no surprise that wearing a costume or mask during Halloween makes you feel that you have undergone a magical transformation.

What if you could transform into four different creatures in one night? Not only would you need to know about each creature, but also how you can make the multiple shifts complete.

First Transformation: The Werewolf

The legend of the werewolf is told in many cultures around the world. The legend is especially prominent in cultures that believe in the bond between humans and animals. Native American and European folklore often contains stories about the werewolf.

The werewolf is also known by the name lycanthrope, which is a hybrid of the words wolf and human in the Latin language. A werewolf is created by being bitten by or born from another werewolf. The genetic disease will cause an inflicted man or woman to transform into the wolf during full moons.

The basis for your costume can reflect the concept of half-man and half-wolf. Meaning, you can cover parts of your body in fur, but you don't need to wear a fur bodysuit. First, tape or glue fur to your bare hands and feet or gloves and shoes. Next, find fake teeth with long, sharp canines to put in your mouth and a long, black wig. Separate the wig into pieces and tease the ends to give your wig a wild appearance. You should keep your attire simple and wear an all-black outfit (think about the characters in the movie Underworld). Check the mirror and you'll see a newly made werewolf!

Second Transformation: The Vampire

Films like Dracula, Interview with the Vampire, and Twilight have created generations of people fascinated by vampires. The television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Vampire Diaries have also made the undead part of mainstream culture.

Vampires, also known as the undead or nosferatu, have their roots in early nineteenth century European folklore. Vampires have certain restrictions, which are better understood as allergies. Traditionally, vampires are allergic to sunlight, crosses, garlic, and any food with the exception of blood. All of these items in varying degrees can kill a vampire.
The vampire spreads his or her curse through their bite or blood, so it's important that your costume reflects a vampire's blood lust.

Part of wearing a vampire costume is becoming that image of Béla Lugosi in the film Dracula, but also feeling as though you possess a supernatural ability under your very human skin. Superhuman strength, intuition, and senses are characteristics shared by werewolves and vampires. Consequently, changing from a wolf to a vampire can be simple. First, keep the teeth that you were wearing for your werewolf costume. Both vampires and werewolves have sharp canines. Next, comb your hair so that it is impeccably neat. Vampires are extremely polished monsters. Keep the outfit the same and remove the furry hands and feet. Finally, your look will be complete with red dye or makeup applied to a corner of your mouth. Usually, you wouldn't be so sloppy as to leave a bit of dinner on your chin, but it is Halloween and even the undead can live a little.

Third Transformation: The Witch

While flipping the channels, especially during October, you might see a few women with varying hair colors talking in a circle and think that Charlie's Angels is on again. Upon closer inspection, you realize that these women are actually chanting and the women are witches.

Those that believe in witchcraft and the use of magical or supernatural powers are typically called witches. Historically, different forms of witchcraft have been documented in several cultures from Europe to Africa. Witchcraft is even considered more of a science in some tribal groups, whose practitioners are often called "witch doctors."

There isn't only one way to be a witch. A witch could practice Wicca, which is the religious tradition of witchcraft, or choose not to cast spells or participate in rituals. You can apply this freedom to your witch costume. Remove the sharp fake teeth and blood and voila! You have the perfect witch's outfit and without the pointy hat!

Fourth Transformation: The Ghost

Halloween is also known as the Day of the Dead and a time of celebration in many cultures. In parts of Asia and South America, candles are lit and food is left on altars to pay respect to ancestors.

According to ghost legend, those dearly departed individuals that have not moved on past their mortal lives are known as ghosts. When people acknowledge ghosts, it is often a sign of remembrance.

No longer do you have to feel confined to dressing in a sheet, but you can fashion your ghost costume to reflect your image of a ghost. It could mean not changing a thing on your witch costume, but it could also mean that you cover your face with the hair from your wig. It's not meant to look like Cousin It from the Addams Family, but to provide a lack of transparency.

A ghost is someone that used to be alive, so you don't have to look like a monster. You can simply embody the disposition of a ghost. This is your opportunity to give your costume a bit of excusable attitude!
