||Moving Tips & Guides|
Standard Moving Costs |
The cost of a typical move can vary greatly, depending on several factors that include the size of the move, the distance of the move and whether other services are included. But if you’re wondering how much you should expect to pay for a typical move so you can prepare your budget and your bank account, read more to find out.
Get Multiple Estimates |
When moving, make sure you get at least three estimates from different companies so that you can properly compare their services with your budget.
Tips for Moving in the Fall |
In the fall, the leaves change colors and the weather changes as well, so it's also a good time to change addresses if you're considering moving. If you don't want the hectic stress of moving during the hot summer months and want a better deal from a moving company, you might consider moving during the fall. This guide will explain the benefits and drawbacks of moving during the fall season, so you can better prepare yourself for your upcoming relocation.
Ask About Extra Costs |
Don’t be afraid to ask the moving company questions about extra fees that may come up. If you haven’t used adequate materials in packing your belongings, you can be charged for packing supplies. There may be extra fees for moving from a big city. They may charge you extra for any number of reasons, so it’s important to make sure that you have an idea of everything that they want to charge you either up front or just make sure that you’re clear on why they’re charging you extra.
The Meaning of US DOT Numbers |
US DOT numbers are an important piece of information that will let you in on a moving company’s prior history and let you know where the company is legally allowed to operate, as well as if they company is legitimate and reputable. These numbers are important and can help you in your decision of whether or not to hire a moving company.

|It was very bad service.|
Best Movers of America
|I experienced very bad service. When I spoke with them they said okay just you need to pay $1300. When they came for pick-up they haven't said anything to us....but after two days or three days they said your stuff is in Atlanta right now but you have to pay $400 more because you have more stuff. But I tried to explain to her that whenever they came for pick-up they said you are good, Stuff is within 350 cubic feet you don't need to pay anymore money. I asked her and she said, no he's the driver she doesn't know anything about the cubic feet or anything...I said I spoke with her she said if you're not going to pay by tomorrow, we are going to throw your stuff. So I said whatever extra you have in Atlanta, my friend will come pick it up but she said it wasn't in Atlanta and we had to pay extra or they'll throw it away.|

Angel Van Lines
|So Fred from Angel was very aggressive in his pursuit of my job,and then everything after I did the contract was a horrific experience. First of all,at no time did he indicate that Angel was not actually going to do the move,they subcontract (or broker) and the actual company was a horrible company called ABF Moving Systems. Second,at no time did he indicate that there could be a delay from our agreed upon pack out date. They were supposed to come on a Monday and call Sunday to schedule,no call Sunday,so I called Monday and was told it would be Tuesday,no call to schedule Tuesday,at which point I called again and was told it would be Wednesday. No call Tuesday so I called again only to be told they couldn't do Wednesday either. The contract said they had 72 hours in the small print. I told them Wednesday if they didn't come by 5 pm the contract would be null and void,so they said they would be there between 11 and 1,then between 1 and 3. They finally showed up at 6 pm,three guys in beater tshirts driving a Budget truck,totally unprofessional. They damaged my walls,packed things labeled not to be packed,and didn't pack things to be packed. At 2 am when they finally finished,I signed 4 sheets of inventory of what they loaded. I expected to find my copies thereof,only to find none. When I was ready for delivery,the ABF tried to overcharge,after already upping my cost,charging for storage (which was supposed to be in Austin and turned out to be in Memphis) that was included at no cost in the contract,etc. I could not get anyone to return my calls about delivery until I contacted the credit card company,which gave me a cell phone # that,as it turned out,was the owner's wife. After I texted her,I did finally get a return call from a less than nice man. It took multiple texts to the wife to get a firm delivery date,The truck showed up with my things,only the driver in the truck,and there was a delay for local helpers to show up. Then,two large cabinets were put in upside down,many things were damaged,like a smashed recycling center and file cabinet,marred cherry bedroom set with a broken top in a wardrobe,etc. Upon unpacking,I have discovered that a substantial amount of my things were missing,thousands of dollars of items,such as my suits,bathrobes,slippers,blender,mixer,food processor,sewing items,dresser contents,an antique chair etc. Everyday i find I don't have something else that was not included. I contacted Fred at Angel to ask that the storage facility be contacted to see if perhaps part of my load was still there. A dispatcher called after a second email to Fred,and said he would check and get right back to me. Of course,there was no follow up call. This was clearly the worst move experience of my six plus decades. I would recommend staying clear of both Angel Van Lines and ABF Moving System.|
