Scammers!!! underquote and then ...

I was given a quote for the moving company to receive two pallets of household items shipped from out of state and delivered to my building. I described the dimensions and the contents of the pallets (boxes and two pieces of furniture). I was given a quote for $356. I forwarded the bill of lading and told them the expected delivery date was the following Wednesday and asked if they had an opening that weekend to deliver b/c I needed to reserve the loading elevator in my building in advance. I was told to wait until they received the shipment. The trucking company called the day of the scheduled delivery, and the moving company scheduled for delivery the next day (Thursday). The moving company told me they had availability that weekend, but by that time my building did not have openings for the loading elevator so we had to schedule for the following weekend (Saturday). On Friday I emailed them to confirm the delivery time and did not receive a response. I called them at the end of the day and was told (for the first time) that there are more items than they expected and they would have to charge me more ($880!!). They told me there was three pallets instead of two, which was a complete lie. The person helping me arrange the shipment at the origin confirmed and measured two pallets. The trucking company certified that they picked up two pallets. I was only charged to ship two pallets. The moving company then said there was much more than described. In total, I had 11 boxes and two dressers (one had a hutch). He said that these items required three instead of two people and also required an additional hour. The original quote ch

No reason this company should have a ...

It was the worst experience I have ever had. Driver (supervisor) aregued with me for the first 15 minutes about what he was going to wrap as apposed to what I told the estimaor I wanted packed. They helpers left boxes on the damp grount and could not read bedroom, livingroom, diningroom or kitchen. s a result, I had to move boxes to the right rooms (least I incurr more charges) Movers left the hardware to my bed and the plug-in for the TV at previous residence. I called today to talk to the person who answered to the (he wouldn'y give me his name) and when I asked him to stop talking over me he hung up on me. I called back times and he either hung up or didn't answer.

Not horrible. but feels they are ...

I paid the deposit to use their service before I read their bad reviews, and i regret it......I was very cautious and wrap and box everything except my bed (didn't have time),... they said my clear tape is no good and must charge me $20 for their brown boxing tap.... they charged me 48 just for wrapping my mattress and box spring with wrap. they did not even use mattress bag... broke the wheel of my computer chair.. i didn't ask for compensation, only asked them to fix it (i happen to have an extra wheel),.. said they can't do it. very disappointing. the move was 4 hours including driving time. said must charge 5 hrs because it takes them an extra hour to come and go back.... but i feel the 2 hispanic guys who were moving were genuinely nice.. just the person in charge happens to be money sucking. the actual price and the quote is so far different. yes, the quote is cheap, but you are most likely going to pay more than it.. just stay away..

They were OK, but they did stuff on ...

Overall it was fine, I think what ended up happening was the movers started wrapping things without telling them to wrap thing, so they started shrink wrapping - actually some stuff got shrink wrapped that was going to be thrown out or part of the move, so there was a bit of a language barrier there. Then when they were backing the truck out, they ran over the mail box which it was very clear that they ran over the mail box that was therea t the house even though they indicated that they didn't run it over. That was pretty much it. I think everything else was pretty much OK.

Econo Van Lines LLC - STAY AWAY!!!! ...

STAY AWAY!!!! SCAMMERS! Very unprofessional, CHEATERS, I got a quotation from John Atanasov in Econo Van Lines LLC(as he said he is general manger while does not know how to speak with customers.) He asks for extra money on every step like packing, loading and delivery by given various unprofessional reasons and gives threaten you that your belongings will not be delivered and you will be responsible for Storage charge too, while never provides you any delivery date or final price to pay.Harass a lot to my wife in my absence by asking to pay extra $150 for packing and $800 extra for extra weight and finally she was asked to pay double price of original estimation given. There are lots of fake comments which say best/very good experience, I would say worth experience of my life. Looks like one Man Company (John) with no business ethics. They were so rude once they stepped into your house to collect your belongings? Lastly, Econ Van lines is rate D with the BBB. I have found many bad reviews regarding John Atanasov in Econo Van Lines LLC, i wish I could have seen them for hire them. They have not been in business for long and have had 16 complaints against them to date. I like to complaint these guys on BBB, if anybody knows the process please let me know?

The guy held me hostage

It was horrible. The guy held me hostage, he held my stuff hostage. He engaged in extremely inappropriate behavior during my move. He charged me more for my packing supplies--for which prices he never submitted before I even signed the contract--than he did for the actual move. I paid $400 in packing supplies which were not needed, and $400 less than that for my actual move. He wouldn't take the stuff off the truck until I paid him. He made me sign contracts in duress while my child was crying in my arms and wouldn't work until I did so. He then pretended that he was the owner of the company. I'm actually filing a suit against that company. I would highly suggest that you do not service them anymore because I'm a single mother and he took full advantage of me. I fear for people who don't have a lot of money who get hustled by him. I have moved 14 times in my life, and I never experienced what I experienced with them.

It was not neccessarily a great ...

Overall they had the lowest quote, which in retrospect was probably the bad thing to go with because they sort of undercut and I spent probably about $1000 more than what I expected based on their quote. They said they would deliver one day and didn't show up until the end of the week. So it was not necessarily a great experience.

Wasnt really happy with them overall

I called to see when they were coming and they said I called and changed the date. I paid 59 dollars as an initial down payment and now I contacted my credit card to get that back because they didnt come through with the services they were supposed to. Ill probably end up going with a different one next time i move because the company that i had the crew that i had, they damaged a few thing and i just wasnt really happy with them overall .

On 2/1/14, I hired Econo Van Lines for my apartment move from Silver Spring, MD to Greenbelt, MD. I was orginally quoted $225. When the movers arrived, the driver assessed my furniture and told me that I would need to purchase 2 additional boxes for mirrors and glass tables. I agreed. The boxes would total $50+ and he adjusted my total. The movers proceeded to pack my belonging into the truck. During the process, one of the movers put a hole in my wall. When I addressed them about the hole, he told me that I put that hole in the wall because a fresh hole would have paint dust falling out of it. I then touched the hole and showed him that paint dust was indeed on my fingers. When all of my belongings were packed away on the truck, the driver told me that an additional $310 would be added to my original quote. I inquired about the extra charges and the driver told me that he used additional boxes and packing materials that I did not authorize, even though he told me that I did. I then called the office on my drive to the new apartment and the owner told me that the driver disclosed all of the packing fees with me and I told him that he only told me that I needed 2 boxes of $50. I also told him that a hole was put in my wall and that I was dissatisfied about the service. Upon arrival to the new apartment, the driver told me that he would not be able to remove my boxes and furniture until I paid. The total came up to more than $678, more than double my originally quoted price. I called the owner and told him about the hole, additional boxes and packing materials that were used and he took a $50 off of the total. Even though I was very disappointed with the service, I agreed to pay because I needed my furniture. The driver asked if he could take a picture of my credit card and told him that he could call to verify the credit card but I did not trust him to take a picture of my card. He then called the verify the credit card. He told me that this card was different from the card I used to pay the $75 deposit and I told him "Yes, I would like to use my credit card instead of my debit card." On 2/4/14, I checked my back statement and I noticed the charge of $628 withdrawn from my checking account. I then called the moving company and the owner told me that I authorized the use of that card. I told him that the driver must have made a mistake because I only authorized him to use my credit card. He then proceeded to call me a "liar" and that I was trying to do something "shady". I wanted to use my credit card because I paid the rent for my new apartment that day using my checking account and because the total price for the move was more than expected, I wanted to make sure everyone got their money without any issues. I asked if I could speak to the driver because he knows that I gave him a different card and he told me that I would never be able to talk to him and continued to persistently tell me that he knows what card I used

A lot of hidden charges

What they told me over the phone and what they actually charged me was totally different. There were a lot of hidden costs, that's my complaint. Their pricing looked nice over the phone. They told me $600, but at the end of the day it went up. I did it over the phone, I didn't sign any papers though, so that was the catch. The staff and crew was nice, my problems had nothing to do with them, the services were excellent. They shouldn't conceal any information when giving you the quote over the phone, they should tell you exactly what they are charging and give you all the information and if you agree, you move on.

Average experience

It was fine. In comparison to other movers, their price was good. I understood that there would be some charges to come - boxes and tape and what not, but that was probably a little more than I had expected. I understand that they had to wrap things to move and I have to be responsible for them. Other than that, the pricing was okay. Anything I needed, whatever I required they met my requirements. I would not recommend them, not because they did a horrible job or anything but because I don't know anybody I could think of recommending them to. When I talked to the girl on the phone, she gave me the price that included everything. I didn't know I was going to be charged for every roll of tape and for the boxes they had to use. For some of the furniture I had, they had to break boxes down and use it to tape around things. Initially, I thought they would just use moving pads for it, but they said they need these boxes. That was just some unexpected pricing. The price on the boxes was like $20 for a certain kind of boxes. That was a little steep for boxes. There was one incident where they were going down the wooden stairs and they actually broke one of the stairs. One of the guys was sliding something down and I thought he was a little careless and tried to let it quickly slide down the stairs. It broke the edge of one of the stairs.

Worst experience ever

It was the worst move I have ever been on. They nickeled and dimed me. They pretty much robbed me blind with all the stuff that they used - that I told them not to use. If anybody asks about this moving service, I would tell them not to use it. I talked to the manager as well after it. He wouldn't even do anything to compensate me or help me or make the situation better.

Don't use these clowns!

I listed all items to be moved in detail for this 10 mile move. I packed all small items in boxes. I called the business and asked - in clear language - "Does this quote include everything needed?" The answer was 'yes', but as soon as they arrived they expected me to sign off on a long list of additional expenses. No blankets were included to cover furniture whereas normally blankets are plentiful. Tape was not included and the charge per roll was 3x Home Depot. They claimed that they needed to place furniture in large expensive boxes. I declined all additional packing charges and then personally helped with the move of the un-protected furniture myself. Still, they required an additional hour of labor for the job. In short, they low-balled the job to get the work, then upped the charges wherever possible. Crew was seedy but management was far worse. Initial contact (owner) mysteriously became unavailable on moving day.

Dis-satisfied customer

I placed a $150.00 deposit down on a move, which consisted of a 8 piece BD set plus 10 boxes to NC. Was given a do not exceed estimate of $759.30. The pickup was scheduled on 4/28/13 and the delivery was 5/2/13. Before pick up I sent $380 to pay for first half payment up front. After the Econo Van lines picked up my belongings they changed the delivery date because my load was so small they needed to transport it with another load. Afterwards I was told they needed to weigh my load because there was additional items such as a dressor and airmoire and boxes. He said I didnt state that my bed room set would consist of a dressor and airmoire, even though it was listed on their inventory in my estimate. He said they would weigh the items and charge me $.99 per pound. Econo called me back and stated I had 1800lbs worth of furniture on the truck and my new total was $1561.03. I wanted to pick up my belongs and they were going to charge me $915.00, said they worked 6 hours because they charge from the time the movers leave the office until the time they return. They had my belongs for two weeks and refused to release them. During that time I contacted the Attorney Generals office, consumer complaint, and various other agencies plus I sent a very detail email to the company with my dissatisfaction. Eventually, Econo called and said they did not want any problems and delivered my items -two weeks later, at 9pm at night-when they were suppose to arrive at 4pm. The movers were nice but they were not helpful. They were suppose to assemble my furniture but said they could not because they did not disassemble. We began to look for screws and they were missing. I immediately called my mother because the value city guys placed they screws in a ziplock bag and placed in the second drawer of my side table. So now I am unable to put my bedroom set together! This is ridiculous! THese guys are scammers. The spokeman John Atanosov was very shady. He spent most of his time talking over top of me. Beware they have shady dealings. If you work with them check your paper work, they will allow people to sign on your behalf and stick you with it. To top it off they sent me a scale ticket with the weight...and guess what??? It wasn't even my scale ticket. Beware! Beware! Beware! These guys can't get their totals right....they could never tell me the right prices I had to go back to my estimate! They charged me $238.00 for shipping materials which consisted of a little bit of bubble wrap and packing tape! wolves in sheeps clothing!!!

Prompt and quick to respond.

One - they were prompt, they were quick. It was very easy very quick. They were friendly. It was nice. The price was very reasonable. It wasn't like when they got there, it changed. That was good. Yes I would recommend them to friends and family who will move in future. It was a good experience for me. I can't imagine being an issue. They answered all my questions. They are very quick and prompt to respond. So it was a good experience.

The movers were recommended

Me experience was good. The employees were all polite and they were concerned about my furniture, they protect everything, they were respectful, so I think was the staff. The prices were reasonable. My belongings arrived safely at my destination. Well, they were available to negotiate because they were talking about some extra fees to cover the sensitive furniture like glass this kind of things so they were open to negotiate when we spoke with the manager on phone, they were flexible.

Worst moving experience ever

Worst ever expereience ever encountered. They promised me that the moving will be something about $70 or something an hour and then three individualls coming and that we need to use about three hours or four hours to do the moving. When they came they started warpping my things and later they charged me $1300. Instead of $300 and something once they finished they said $1300. Have you ever had such kind of spending in your life? I am telling you it is the worst thing ever even in third world country. This should never allow to happen in third world country. They had to stop the moving. I had to argue with the manager for almost two hours before they reached the price of $1000. It is the worst experience ever. I will never allow even my enemy to go through what I went through.

A Bad Experience...

Lesson learned. Never use the lowest quote on moving services and always have the mover come give an on sight quote. Background info...moving between buildings with 2 elevators to reserve so a challenge to begin with. Also had 1 stop along the way but still all within a 5 mile radius. First, they were almost 1.5 hours late to the first home. Called them multiple times to see where they were. Heard " we are only 5 minutes away" 3 times on the calls. They were lost and went to NW instead of SW. Once they finally arrived, wanted to add on packing fees/other fees to move the mattresses, couch, etc. Mind you this is a local move and none of this was told to me during several email exchanges leading up to the actual move date. The couch did not need to be wrapped to be moved less than a mile away. It was not going to storage and not moving cross country. After yet another call to the company, they agreed to waive a fee on wrapping since they were very late. Still had to pay for other items to be wrapped though. Total scam. Same issue at second stop and had to call company yet again to be told the same thing and also to have the workers told again about couch #2 fee waiver. This down time resulted in more time being wasted and the cost going up. Driver talked on his phone to his girlfriend while the other men worked wasting time. Also comments were made in Spanish about us/the move with the drivers not realizing that we spoke Spanish. Finally, things were broken and walls damaged.

I had a horrible experience with this company. I was told my items would be delivered on a Monday, exactly one week after ickup. However, I did not get a notice that my goods were being delivered later that week until late Sunday night. I got multiple excuses for the delayed delivery which were inconsistent. When the movers did finally arrive, my bill was almost double the quoted price. The moving guys were friendly but clearly did not care about my belongings as the boxes were literally beat up and several were falling apart (all of which were new boxes from Uhaul). BE AWARE and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Lastly, as I unpacked I have found several broken items due to their poor care. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, PLEASE!!!
