Brief Overview

The state earned a grim title of 'Bleeding Kansas' as a result of the conflict between pro and anti slavery forces just before the civil war. Today it's a relatively peaceful and progressive state with a considerable lower cost of living. Also, the state's northeastern corner is experiencing a telecommunications and technology boom as headquarters to such companies as Sprint.
