Yearly Breakdown-Type of Move

The pie chart is divided into the four major types of moves. Based on our findings, more than half of relocations in 2016 were local moves (a move under 50 miles from the origin to the destination, typically within the same state). That number has steadily increased since 2005.

Monthly Breakdown-Type of Move

This line chart breaks down the year by month. Relocations in 2016 peaked with 58% of them taking place in February, and remained consistent until August.

Yearly Breakdown-Size of Move

The table breaks down the relocations by the size of the move. Throughout the entire study, people with a 2-bedroom house had the highest percentage of relocations, yielding roughly a quarter of the total.
