Packing bathroom items for moving may feel daunting or easy, depending on its size and the number of different things in it. You'll probably throw out a lot when you pack up your bathroom, but what's left will be very easy to pack and ship.

How to Pack Bathroom Items for Moving

Gather the necessary materials to pack your bathroom supplies

Here's what you'll need when packing bathroom items

  • Stack of clean packing paper
  • Moving blankets
  • Plastic bags
  • Packing peanuts (optional)
  • 2-cubic-foot or "small" carton
  • Roll of packing tape
  • Permanent marker

Here are some basic steps to follow when you pack bathroom items for moving:

Sort the bathroom supplies

Before packing bathroom supplies, decide which items you actually want to bring with you. Go through your bathroom shelves, cupboards, and drawers and sort the bathroom supplies and create a bathroom packing list into the following categories:

  • Hair products
  • Toiletries
  • Cosmetics
  • Medicine
  • Shower curtains and towels
  • Cleaning products and other miscellaneous bathroom supplies

Once you have sorted all your bathroom items and decided what you want to move with you, you can start purging unwanted items.

Purge unwanted items

When you're packing bathroom for moving you may find empty bottles or other items that you don't use anymore. Throw them away! Check the expiration dates of your toiletries and medicines and trash anything that's past its date. Things like toilet brushes, rags, and anything else that is germ filled and cheaply replaced should be thrown out as well.

Packing bathroom for moving

Once you are ready to pack your bathroom, make sure everyone in your home use an essential bathroom bag to pack bathroom items for moving. This should include toiletries like toothbrushes, shampoo, toothpaste, medicine, and any other items that you use every day.

Shower curtains and towels can be hung in wardrobe boxes or packed with your luggage. Just be careful not to pack anything that's wet.

When you're packing bathroom for moving, you may find bottles containing liquids or lotions, make sure all the caps are tightly sealed. If you're concerned about things leaking, place them in plastic bags before you pack them.

Any bathroom item that is glass or breakable can be wrapped in packing paper or a moving blanket after it has been put in a moving box. Fill any extra room with crushed paper to keep things from shifting around.

Once you have completed packing bathroom items and placed into the boxes, place one final layer of packing paper on top of the items as cushioning. Then seal the box with packing tape and finish by labeling the box with its contents and destination.
