Usually, you can expect to pay movers between $90 and $130 an hour for a local move. So, if you wanted to hire friends or community members instead, you could probably cut down on that cost considerably.
If you wanted to do $50 for the day, plus food, or a gift card and food as a "thank you", it would go a long way. Obviously, your friends aren't professionals, but they make a huge difference in the time and help needed to move.
