Hi, and welcome to Movers.com! I'll be happy to give you some information about how long it takes your household shipment to go from Chicago to Miami.

Long distance moves

Since this is a long distance move, and you therefore will be charged by the weight of your shipment and not by the man-hour, your pick up and delivery can vary. Typically, moving companies will load your goods onto a large truck along with other customers' goods that are going in the same direction. Sharing space like this saves you money on the move.

As a result, sometimes goods are then brought to a warehouse, where they are transferred to a different truck before they reach their final destination (your new home). Your moving company you choose should be able to provide a window in which your goods will be delivered – something like seven to 10 days – depending on how far the goods have to go, the time of year, and other factors. While you're getting estimates on movers (we recommend at least three), be sure to ask a lot of questions about when your goods will be delivered, especially if you have time restrictions.
