Hi, thanks for visiting Movers.com! I'll be more than happy to answer your question for you. On average, an elliptical can weigh anywhere between 100-150 pounds, usually depending on several factors including the size of the elliptical and the make and model of the equipment. Usually, ellipticals purchased for use in a home gym will be smaller and more portable than ellipticals you may see in your local gym.

Either way, ellipticals have a unique shape and design that may make it difficult to move and may require some additional help and some prior planning in order to transport it safely and efficiently.

Preparing to move your elliptical

  • Disassemble the elliptical. Moving your elliptical in one piece will be difficult, as the equipment's design will make it hard to manuever through doorways, as well as up and down stairs. The easiest way to move the elliptical will be to disassemble it, separating its body from the moving legs and pedals that may move back and forth while you're attempting to carry it, making things much more difficult.
  • Pack and wrap each part of the machine separately. When you disassemble the elliptical, you should have three or four main parts: the handlebars, the pedals, the base of the machine and the trunk where the main console is located. When the machine is broken down, each of these parts become much easier to pack and wrap and also much easier to carry out of the house and load onto the moving truck. Wrap each part in moving blankets or moving pads to keep them protected during the move.
Moving your elliptical

  • Use the proper moving equipment to load the elliptical onto the truck. Like all large, heavy items, you should have the help of multiple people when moving the elliptical. If you have access to a handtruck or dolly, you should use it in order to help you safely transport the elliptical onto the moving truck.
  • Hire professional movers to lend a hand. Large, heavy items like ellipticals are difficult to move on your own. If you ca not disassemble your elliptical prior to moving it, or if you have not gathered enough helping hands to get the elliptical from your house to the moving truck, it's always a smart idea to hire professional movers and packers to handle it for you.
