I submitted information to receive quotes, but several of the contacts are not BBB or AMSA listed. How can I verify, your ads state that they are?

Hi, thanks for visiting Movers.com! I'll be glad to address your concerns. When it comes to vetting a potential moving company, you're on the right track. Checking your moving company's license is very important, and when you're deciding on a moving company to assist you with your move, you should always thoroughly research the company and make sure that they are a reputable and fully licensed and insured moving company.

There are a few easy ways for you to run a quick background check on your prospective moving companies, and they involve several major organizations that monitor moving companies and regulate businesses within the moving industry. The first thing you can do is to cross-check the company's US DOT number, which can usually be found on the doors of the mover's fleet of vehicles. Then, reference those numbers with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) at their website and see if they match. Compliant long-distance moving companies must be registered with the FMCSA, as well as intrastate movers in some states.

Customer reviews can be an extremely useful tool in situations like this, as it's always a good idea to trust the word of fellow customers like yourself. At Movers.com, you can visit the moving reviews page and search for the name of the company you are checking to read some reviews about the company and see if they fit your criteria. Also, visit movingscam.com to check and see if the company name appears on the list of blacklisted moving companies.
Lastly, call up the company and speak with them, either over the phone or in person, to ask them some questions about how they operate and gather as much information about them as you can. How a company speaks to its customers can say a lot about how they operate their business and you can also learn a lot about a moving company by speaking to its employees.
