Insurance claim scam

Aaction Movers - United Van Lines completely packed all of our household goods using approximately 225 cartons they provided. My wife and I paid an additional $858.00 for Full Value Protection insurance. During packing the driver and local agent were notified that one of our large flat screen TV had been dropped. We provided the names of the packer and witness. Then, during delivery we notified the driver that a large item was missing. The driver claimed that it was still packed in one of the boxes. It took us several weeks to unpack. During that process we discovered several damaged items. We notified Aaction Movers - United Van Lines and requested a claim form. After we cataloged all damage we filed a claim for 9 broken or missing items with a $875.00 value. Several weeks went by with no reply. We contacted Aaction Movers - United Van Lines multiple times about the claim but were given delays. About 10 days ago Aaction Movers - United Van Lines notified us that they required photographs supporting the claim. Within 24 hours we submitted the photographs they requested. A few days later we received a letter from Aaction Movers - United Van Lines stating that our claim was denied because it was a "local claim" that must be filed with 10 days from the date of delivery. The distance from origin to destination is approximately 125 miles; that is not local. In addition, Aaction Movers - United Van Lines completely packed all of our household goods. We were never informed of that the claim had to be filed with a 10 day period after delivery. In fact, the claim form itself states that it must be filed with 9 months of delivery. Aaction Movers - United Van Lines are engaged in Interstate Commerce. There is no basis to deny a claim because it was not filed in 10 days. Read more
