Advanced Misleading and Damage is a ...

Of the 7 moving companies I've worked with during the last 25 years,none have operated,misled or created such a pernicious system to trick their customers and leave them with no recourse or remedy like Advanced "Moving and Storage." An Advanced representative visited my home for over an hour to inspect all of the items being moved. There was nothing exotic or unusual,no exceedingly heavy furniture or anything else. The representative quoted $3,500,including some better "Repair or Replace" insurance for $125.00 to give me a greater peace of mind. I also asked the representative if there was anything I could do to lower the cost of the move,as the quote was 30% more than what I paid to move a lot more property just 2 years prior. The Advanced said the more I move myself,the lower my cost will be. So over the next four weeks,I made more than a dozen trips and moved about 35% of the contents out of the house. Despite the job becoming 35% smaller,Advanced is insisting on charging me 54% more for a move that involved ripping legs off a home theater cabinet,a wine refridgerator (which also has multiple steel areas on the bottom wrinkled and bent like a piece of paper and a night stand. Rooms and hallways are full of new scratches,dents,marks and stains. Several other items of furniture have significant scratches,some fairly deep. When I asked for a supervisor or manager none was available. Advanced presented me with two options: pay their new higher price (which increased a second time later),or they would take all of my items and keep them locked in storage until I complied with what was essentially ransom. If I didn't pay,my son and I would be sleeping on the floor in our new home. I paid the first masssive increase of $1,000 for a smaller move,but when I said I wanted to talk to someone in management before paying the second,no one was available. The operations manager,who was available to collect money but not help customers,told the crew to put whatever was left in the truck in the garage (they kept a couple things) and cease assembly of my beds and desk. The crew didn't practice basic moving comment sense techniques,like labeling boxes and wrapping furniture in moving blankets,or not putting smaller items in hallways or rooms to make room for the largest items to be put in the room first. They also asked my son to go to McDonald's for them,giving him money for half of the cost of their order,and then having the audacity to ask where their change was. Prior to the move,my recycling bin in the garbage was empty. After the move,it contained beer bottles and my son and I didn't drink any beer. Despite my pleas for help,for nearly three full days,everyone in management was "in meetings." When someone did finally assess my case,they said it "was not that bad." Stay Away!

This is the review I posted on Google. I'm posting it again, here, because I want as many people as possible to stay away and save themselves from the headache my girlfriend and I went through. This has to be one of the worst experiences I've had with a company. Ever. Unprofessional. Bad customer service. I don't feel like I can say enough bad things about this company to warn people. If I could give them zero or negative stars, I would. My girlfriend hired them for a long-distance move from Chicago to South Dakota. With a moving date set more than two months out (plenty of time for logistics and dispatch to get everything in order) the delivery was delayed almost 2 months. Trying to contact our rep, Tyler, was a nightmare as he was either out of the office or just not willing to take our phone calls until we made it a point to follow up EVERY DAY until he responded to us. The reason for the delays? "Dispatch just couldn't get a truck scheduled for delivery." This was AFTER they had 2 MONTHS to make sure dispatch COULD get a delivery at the requested time. Delivery was supposed to happen in June 2019. We finally got our stuff in August. Tyler then told us to file a delay of delivery claim. So, we filed the delay of delivery claim. They told us they weren't responsible for any truck malfunctions and therefore would not be honoring our delay of delivery claim. So....two months after we were supposed to get our stuff, the driver arrives (super nice guy, honestly the only decent person I dealt with while working with this company) and delivers our stuff. It gets even worse. Not only were they two months late on the delivery, high-dollar items were damaged, moving totes had been obviously opened, and we didn't even receive all of the items.
