Very Disappointing How Little Care Was ...

Here is something I have learned about a cross country move. United subcontracts to Armstrong in the New York area and then they subcontract to other local movers. From your home, the local movers take your things to a facility where your things are then repacked to fit on a larger truck for the cross country move. The truck that arrived at our storage unit had items from three households and it was packed incredibly tight. As we are unpacking our belongings from our storage unit, we are finding many damaged and broken things. Furniture damaged. Broken legs. Things taken apart without care, missing pieces. Scratches, dings. Furniture wasn't wrapped well. For example a $30,000 solid cherry wall unit has all sorts of scratches and two missing shelfs. The leg of a precious mid-century Scandinavian teak sofa was broken off. The local movers seemed to be taking care but we recieved paperwork showing that items were damaged at the Armstrong facility from the driver. We will be filing a claim but some of these damaged items are truly antiques and difficult to repair. We are very disappointed in the process and the lack of care. I advise that anyone who takes the risk to move their things with Armstrong or any mover, take pictures of your valuable things so that you can show before and after pictures. Get your things insured. If you can find one mover that handles everything start to finish, that is ideal. United isn't actually the company that moves your things - there is a whole chain of subcontractors (Armstrong in our case handled the move) and that is why it is so expensive because everyone has to get their share. It's a process that puts your things in a lot of hands and therefore more at risk of being damaged. Read more

I decided to go with Armstrong moving because their price was reasonable, affordable and their staff was pretty quick with answering my questions. On day of the move they came with their trucks that had their own logo in them and their workers. The workers were very friendly and knew what they were doing by the way they wrapped my furniture. Overall, I was very happy i had a stress- free move. I will be using them next time I move. Read more

They are just broker and you will ...

Wrong estimation, will not commit with date and time. Will subcontract to other company and you will end-up fighting with company that you have not dealt with. Read more

Fabulous!

They were fabulous, he was very honest. He gave me a good price, they did a great job, they had a great crew. They came in and did it very quickly, it came in actually less than he estimated because I'm pretty organized and I think he's used to maybe people who aren't.
