Lacking Transparency

I am going to be generous and give this company 2 stars, because the actual movers worked super hard to move some very heavy things out of my home. Every other aspect of this move, however, was disastrous. After being given a quote of ~1750 which seemed pretty reasonable to move an apartment's worth of items to a new state, the mover's showed up, reassessed my items, added fees, and my new total was over $2800. They insisted on charging $300 to wrap furniture which on the form said would be covered (one of the pieces of furniture wrapped still came broken), because the material was different (not stated on the original form), and "mattresses weren't furniture and I needed to package them myself ahead of time" despite this not being articulated anywhere on the contract or verbally. They added a $450 fee which I eventually had taken off after the mover and sales lady rudely fought about on speaker phone for 30 minutes because the saleslady had been giving lower quotes to land deals. Along with this, the items I had in the quote changed, but the mover just added this original quote to any new item he could find. The space was never reassessed, increasing my total by $600 between space fees and gas fees. The timing was also a problem. The original contract allowed 30 days of holding items, but I was told to put the delivery day as the same day they picked it up so it would get there faster. It didn't matter in the end though, because it still took almost 2 weeks to get my things, after I was told by the mover the truck was leaving the night of pickup and should be there by the end of the week. Nearly 10 days later, they called me to tell me they finally had "found a truck" to leave the original location after I had already been staying in my new apartment without any furniture for almost a week. This truck then got stopped by the Department of Transportation for being overweight and got put on a 24 hour hold. So, after 2 days of being given moving times with no one showing up, it finally got resolved. Ozi did try to fix the situation by taking $150 worth of extra stair charges off my final bill which I appreciate. However, had I known the cost would increase as much as it did and take far longer than verbally stated, I wouldn't have let the sales lady talk me into using this company and wouldn't have left my old apartment so quickly.
