I have used Dumbo moving various times to transport my art pieces and they have never disappointed me. From the first time I hired them they really shocked me with the determination they have to provide the best moving experience. They are all well trained to care for your belongings, they have always wrapped my paintings and put blankets on them while loading them on the truck. SCAM

I had an initially great experience with Dumbo! I moved out of my apt on 12/31, and they easily arranged storage and a move to my new place, since it wouldn't be ready till 1/4. I requested the same truck that moved me out (Truck 23) because they were great. A different truck arrived on 1/4 (Truck 21). When we were just about done with the move, I noticed a section of my closet wasn't right, and I asked the mover about it and he told me that I was correct and one of my wardrobe boxes (box 32) was missing, and that they would go to the storage unit and find it. I tipped both movers generously, and signed the paperwork, but noted prominently and multiple times that I was missing said wardrobe box. I spoke with the company and they assured they would look for it, and if they could not locate it, that I would be compensated. Fast forward and they say my box has not been found, and went back on their initial statement and now say that the box was delivered with my move and was never actually lost, and offered me $50 for the inconvenience. The knobs for my nightstand are also in that box, so I have an unusable nightstand and thousands of dollars worth of clothes missing. They have not contacted me and refuse to call, will only communicate through e-mail in broken English. This is completely unacceptable and they will be hearing from a professional on my behalf. BEWARE!

BEWARE! This is an awful company - dishonest, shady, despicable behavior that nobody should have to deal with. I used them before and everything was okay - I had a great moving team and the job was done quickly. They damaged a few items but I let it slide (actually, in hindsight I was forced to let it slide because I contacted them multiple times about the damage and they never got back to me. I had bigger things on my plate at the time and didn’t think it was significant enough to waste a bunch of time). Anyway, I wish I would have read reviews before hiring them again because everything in the reviews is accurate. They will rope you in with a quote lower than the competitors then on the day of the move they will charge you more and threaten to cancel the job if you don’t pay. Most recently I dealt with some moron who couldn’t keep track of a thing and made multiple mistakes when taking inventory of my items. I sent multiple emails and made a few calls and got no response. When I finally got someone on the phone they assured me everything was fine and if I had anything extra I might be charged a little more but nothing excessive. That was not the case - I had 12 extra boxes and they charged me almost $200 more on the day of the move. When I asked for a manager to complain I was met with the most disgusting customer service ever. They would not let me speak and were not willing to help in any way. They did not take accountability for their errors and kept trying to blame me for their nonsense. When I said I would pay but I was disgusted and would write negative reviews on Yelp and everywhere else he told me I was trying to blackmail him and that they didn’t want my money anyway. He called the movers to tell them to cancel the job and luckily the movers refused. The movers then spent the rest of the day telling me how awful the company is, how they do this to clients on a regular basis, and how they feel badly for the extra charges their clients are always incurring. It’s a sad state of affairs when employees can’t even defend the company they work for. I’m going through my things now and everything seems okay - one lamp is damaged but it could be worse. Regardless, I would never use this company again, even if they paid me!! STAY AWAY! If you use them you will regret it. Read more

Good work

Dumbo Moving were punctual, efficient, and communicated very well. They called me the day before and morning of the move so communication was excellent. When I asked if they'd make a stop to deliver some of my items to a third location, they were extremely accommodating. I felt bad for how many stairs there were involved in the process but they handled those stairs carefully and efficiently. They're awesome and I highly recommend! Read more

Dumbo Moving were the best moving company I've been with. I moved many times, and no other moving company moved things more swiftly and with efficiency than them. They folded and tied everything. Professional Staff!

They were right on time, worked hard on moving my stuff and NOTHING was damaged. Price was cheaper than the other company, and the moving was faster. I got my stuff delivered earlier than expected, so I was able to sleep in my bed! I would definitely recommend Dumbo Moving to the others. 24 hour packing and moving

I had the best experience with Dumbo movers today. The phone communicator Alex was very helpful. The 2 movers, Mook and Earl were fantastic. They were on time, very nice and went over everything. Terrible experience

We had the misfortune of using Dumbo moving this summer. First we were charged $1,800 more than their initial quote, but since the final price was announced only after our belongings were already packed by them, we were a captive audience. We hired them to do both the packing and unpacking of our belongings with the agreement that the move in and out would take a day each and made appropriate arrangements at work. Once our belongings were moved in around 4:30 pm, the movers left having unpacked almost nothing. We were unable to get them to stay to finish the job and emails and phone calls to the company to request that they honor their contract and unpack our belongings did not produce any results with many going unanswered. Moving is a generally unpleasant experience. While Dumbo is not too proficient with the moving aspect, it has certainly perfected the unpleasant part. They do entertain though as they managed to pack our live plants and put them in storage. Though I found it amusing, my wife and the plants did not. Read more

Never Use Dumbo Movers and Storage

I hired Dumbo to move me from NYC to Philadelphia June 2014 early summer ($915.00). The apartment I moved into had one full set of stairs to my apt. The movers started complaining right away about the heat and the stairs. Before even trying to move my things in to the apt- they said my 84 inch Macys' Remo couch ($778.00) would not fit up the stairs nor would it fit through the door. I even signed a waiver (per Dumbo's management) and an $75.00 additional charge if they would attempt to move the couch up the back yard stairs up to my deck through my bedroom. The movers refused to try. Ultimately, they left my couch in the basement of the apt building filled with garbage and mice. And after they left my couch in the basement the movers ask me for gratuity ($100.00).Spoke with Dan (manager) and their claims dept. , regarding insurance claim options the next day. Claims dpt gave me the run around about submitting a claim. I am now fighting with Dumbo, and Visa to get my money back for the move. Dumbo even had the nerve to submit a FRAUDULENTLY SIGNED FORM BY MYSELF to Visa stating I waived any claims and liability for the couch!!!! Do NOT use these people!!!! Read more

I was under the impression that dumbo was a terrific place to do business,however,after doing a little research I soon realized dumbo would be the last place I would purchase a box from! Non receptive, clandestine like if there was something they had to hide, and insensitive to my request....dumbo you definitely have some mileage to catch up on before I anticipate any business. I would recommend them

The movers were good. I lived on a 5 flight walk up in an apartment building and I had a lot of stuff. The estimate was on target. There was 2 boxes that were oversized that they were not able to carry. They offered to take them if I made them smaller at no extra charge. They arrived on time. They re-assembled all itmes as they were. The also took for 4 extra chairs for a very small addidtional charge. Read more
