Lacking Communication
I needed to move to Portland before I found an place to rent. I picked Green Movers because they had a A- BBB rating and a good safety track record, but after filling out the estimate forms online and talking on the phone for a good while with a salesperson, the onsite estimate was nearly double that of the initial quote. It was only after loading up that they explained that it might take up to three weeks after I gave them an address to deliver and there might be additional service charges (which there were, surprise, surprise) upon delivery, but the fee schedule was not clearly written anywhere and a bit late to decide unload the truck and say "no thank you." I found afterward that the phone is rarely answered and they were unwilling to give any kind of ballpark estimate of delivery dates when I did manage to talk to a human. The delivery as 3 weeks and 2 days after I gave them the address and there was a $400 shuttle fee added. To give credit where credit is due, the labor did a very decent job of packing, disassembling furniture, loading and unloading, but I would never do business again with a company that communicates this poorly and uses questionable tactics to squeeze out extra money from a customer.
