Mover Beware

I wish I could give a good review of this company, especially since I did my due diligence in researching companies before selecting them. I planned a move from Dallas to Houston and contacted Green Vanlines for a survey of my belongings for the most accurate estimate. This was my preference because many moving companies tend to take advantage of customers by asking them to provide a list of their belongings. I wanted the company to see my belongings and assess the need of the move from there. A surveyor came to my home, spent about an hour there and provided a detailed estimate afterwards. From there, I compared other estimates and remained in contact with Sharon who was very responsive as I asked questions. Months later I received an email from Sharon offering me a 5% discount and stated that I was moving during the off-season and they could use the business during the pandemic also. Based on my positive interaction, the reviews and the discounted rate, I went with Green. Days before the move, I received a few confirmation phone calls. The movers arrived on time and were nice. Only one spoke English but we made due. After the truck was loaded, the crew leader basically scratched everything explained to me and was outlined in the estimate. He stated that I used more materials than the surveyor estimated and that he couldn’t honor whatever agreement I had with them (which was all in writing). He calculated his own rates in his cellphone and asked for payment. After that, I heard nothing from the company. Even up until the day before my items were supposed to be dropped off, I called Sharon, and nothing. I called customer service and was told they’d have someone contact me and nothing. I had to call the owner just to get some answers about when my entire home which was in their possession would be delivered. He assured me that my items would arrive the next day. Once the movers arrived, the same game was played once it was time to pay. They ignored what was surveyed and estimated in writing and tacked on an additional $1000 to the balance. What is the point of having someone come out and survey the property if they are going to underestimate the need and cost? This seems to be a tactic they use to take advantage of customers. After that, the crew leader asked me if he could record a video of me leaving a review of how good my move was. When I told him my experience was horrible, he said to just leave out the part about the money because that’s on the sales team, not the moving team. Unfortunately, it’s unethical to coach customers into leaving positive reviews and while he was a nice guy and their team did work hard, I declined the skewed video. I used this company to move me into temporary housing and would’ve used them again for my permanent move once my new house is built but now it’ll be the complete opposite. The moving crew from Green Van Lines is very fast! They really come with great attitude and get you moved out and in within the same day. They are very careful with the work they do, they make sure to treat all your items with lots of care. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for Green Van Lines. They are miracle workers. Very hard working group of men that moved me. Very easy to schedule. I received a call confirming arrival time . They worked very quickly and efficiently to get all the things wrapped, secured and loaded. I wasn't satisfied.

I was satisfied with them to a certain extent. Everything went smooth with the pick up, but of course the delivery - there's always a hiccup. Basically, when they went to deliver my stuff, somebody else didn't close on their house, so they had to keep that shipment up there... and my shipment was behind their's. So long story short, my stuff didn't come until a week after the actual date. Read more

Overall good

Overall, it was mostly good. There were small challenges in terms of they were very restrictive in terms of forms of payment, but we worked through that. And at the moment I am starting to be increasingly disappointed with the way they are handling this small damage claims that I have. Well done and great service

We selected Green Van Lines as they were the only local company in Dallas, TX, I called Arthur was professional and knowledgeable and immediately gave me confidence in them. There was a team of four with big truck to load our stuff. my belongings arrived within the 2 weeks. The two gentleman that moved my furniture in were outstanding they wouldnt let us do a thing I basically pointed to where stuff was to go. They were very professional and super friendly. All of my items arrived in one piece except for one very cheap book case, I was extremely satisfied with the company and would recommend them in a heart beat. Professional movers

We were recommended this company by a colleague. I called Arthur for a quote and gave me a fair price. Arthur did a very thorough inspection and gave lots of useful advice about preparing for the move and explained what would be required. Once we confirmed the move, boxes were delivered the next day so that we could start packing. It took about 3 hours to pack and about the same to unpack, within 2 hour journey in between so a long day for all of us. GVL was very communicative and nothing was a problem. The quote was fair and the terms and conditions were very clear. The guys were friendly and took good care of our belongings. We incurred an extra charge due to the fact the guys has to wait for us at the arrival end, but Issac was clear in communicating the change and it was handled well. We were moving some large items from Dallas, TX and needed them to be safely and securely packed by them. The entire pickup time was no more than half hour top, including the required paperwork. The final price was calculated after all the items were picked up and put up in the track, and the team supervisor had given us a discount since we had more boxes than we first estimated, Everything was clearly explained and it came within the estimated amount, which was also the cheapest and I have actually had moves within a city that cost more.
