Military PCS Move
My military contacted move from Columbus to Abilene, TX, started out fine. Three guys showed up, packed up the things remaining in my apartments, disassembled my bed, and carried the rest of the furniture out intact. For this reason, I assumed most of my stuff would arrive assembled at the final location. When my stuff finally arrived at my new place, all of it was "containerized," disassembled and crammed into a crate which was obviously too small to fit all my stuff. While I understand that this is something the movers do to safe space during a small move, they did a very poor job disassembling the furniture and packing it in a way that would have prevented damage. I had pieces of broken furniture literally falling out of this crate as if they were trying to finish the job at the last minute and didn't even bother to pack it. The movers on the receiving end were shocked, and couldn't even offer to put the stuff back together because it was so damaged and disorganized. I lost half of the furniture that was moved my Mcconnell Bros, including a computer desk, a nightstand, and a dresser. In their defense, I did received the the other half of my furniture intact. However, I don't think a 50% success rate with moving furniture should be acceptable for a professional moving company. I could have dissembled and FedEx'd my furniture to myself one piece at a time, and it would have saved me more time and caused me less hassle than my move with Mcconnell Bros. If you are military and PCSing, I would recommend renting a UHaul and just doing the job yourself if the only other option is Mconnell Brothers Transportation and Storage.
