Don't confuse these people with Metro ...

I bought boxes from Metro Box Exchange, and they were wonderful. I didn't ask, I thought, somehow, they were connected to this moving , group. They ARE NOT. They are trading on the box exchanges good reputation. I spoke to the lady in Raleigh, she said they are not licensed,they are operating illegally,and by claiming to be licensed,they are committing fraud. They are also false implying they are associated with Metro Boxzexchange,and they are not. Metro box exchange has been around since 1982, before these guys were even born. Terrible

The movers showed up forty minutes late. It took them forty minutes to load my bedroom, one bed (matress were already off the bed frame), one dresser, one night stand. I ended up taking apart all other beds by myself to save time. One guy does all the work, the other sits around texting. They broke my dresser drawers and charged me for the time it took them to tear up my dresser and try to put it back together. Overall horrible experience. I would never recommend them to anyone. Takes your furniture as hostage until ...

I was quoted a price of $220 max. if the move took 2 hrs for 2 men to complete. I was also told that if the move took less time then the cost would be reduced by $60/hr. The day and time of the move, 8 pm was discussed when the verbal quote was obtained. The truck and the men arrived very late and the move began at 9:30 pm. Before the men would wrap 3 pieces of furniture (a 4-seat sectional sofa, 1 chest of drawers and 1 single/twin bed), the terms noted above were repeated back to me and I was asked to initial a form that I understood the same and that the move time clock would start at 9:30 pm. The 2 men worked quickly and the truck was at the destination in 1hr 5 mins. At the destination, as soon as we got to the driveway, the men walk over to me and advise me that the office called them and that I had to pay, in cash, $324 or else they were not going to unload the truck. It was late at night, I had just come in from a long day out of town, I was hungry, I had not eaten anything since noon and these guys were clearly holding me hostage in my driveway with my furniture on their truck. The office person would not budge from the position and did not care about the verbal quote I had received. They were just not going to honor that. He reduced he quote $24 advising that they were going to "waive the tax". But I had to go to my bank's ATM in the late night, while their truck waited at my house to get them the $300. When I did, the 2 men unloaded the furniture and brought it inside my house. These guys are clearly crooks. They are thieves. They are liars. And they do not honor their quotes. I intend to report them to the NC Department of Justice and the NC Department of Revenue for investigation, persecution and tax evasion. Read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE

These were the absolute worst movers EVER!!! First off, they came 40 minutes late. They were rude and unprofessional! The 2 men that came to my house to move me were slow and lazy, the one guy even spent several minutes talking on his phone while me and my son moved our stuff into their truck for them! Im a single woman and they tried to get over on me. I paid for an hour and a half moving time. I didnt have much stuff and I was only going 3 miles up the road, the 2 men spent 15 minutes moving pillows before I finally had enough and told them to get the big stuff, then they spent 20 minutes arguing with me when I told them I wasnt paying the ridiculous price they were trying to charge me, they quoted me 85.00 then wanted to charge me almost 300.00!!! When I told him I wasnt paying that much, they said in a very threatening tone " you aint gettin your stuff off this truck til we get our money". It was horrible, and on top of that, when they unloaded my belongings, they put EVERYTHING on the ground floor. They didnt even put the stuff on the floor it went on, telling me "you aint paid for that type of service" it was the worst experience of my life! I even called their office several times and the customer service I received from the office was just as bad. I dont know about all the different contractors they have but the ones in Charlotte North Carolina are HORRIBLE! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. Not to be trusted

This has got to be the worst moving experience EVER! I would not recommend this company to anyone. My move date was 7/31/2012/. The movers left without telling me. I did not receive a copy of my receipt/contract. I had to go outside and see that an item was broken (something that my daughter made for me). I was not notified of the incident. I just saw a few of the pieces on the ground. On top of all of this, 2 of my items were not removed from the truck. I promptly called the driver who did not answer my call. I contacted the main number and was told my items would be brought to me 9 am today. At 10:15 I called and was given the run around. I was hung up on and spoken to with much attitude trying to retrieve MY items. Once the person arrived here, I was told that I needed to come downstairs to retrieve them because it was not in his job description to bring the items to my apt. Horrible experience all the way around and a complaint will be filed. Read more
