Bait and Switch Scam
We contracted National Van Lines to move our household from Arizona to Iowa. They sent a representative out, Max Kuney, who was employed by Mountain Moving and Storage in Phoenix, a representative company for National. Max was very professional and touted his 42 years of estimating experience. We had already moved to Iowa, so my son met Max at the storage units where we had our things stored. My son took Max to the units, and spent nearly an hour explaining the items that were in each unit. He even offer to move things so Max could get a better look at the things in back, to which Max refused. He told my son, that he had done hundreds of these storage unit estimates and he guaranteed the his price would be the most accurate. I had two other nationally recognized moving companies also give me estimates. Consequently, the other companies estimates were quite higher than Max's. I called and questioned Max why his estimate was so much less than the others. He told me that they were just padding their price and guaranteed his would be the most accurate. Unfortunately, we went with National and it ended up that Max had underestimated the total weight 4770 pounds. That's like missing a full sized SUV in weight. At no time during this process, did Max or Mountain Moving and Storage have me sign a contract. So now they are trying to make me pay an additional 2246.60. DO NOT USE these people, they are bait and switch artists.
