Buy the insurance but don't expect to ...

I watched Tanner Van Lines vandalize my furniture at the time of loading by throwing 4 hand trucks and 4 heavy pieces of lumber up into the body of the truck which landed on top of my previously loaded furniture. I reported the event immediately to Lee Tanner. My furniture remained in Tanner care and custody for 3 months. At the time of final destination unloading, immediately the furniture was noted and photographed having crush-type damage (to be expected based on what I witnessed at time of loading). I purchased full replacement cost insurance for $40,000 to cover loss or damage on my shipment. My claim for $3841 has now been turfed-off to a third-party vendor for North American Van Lines. Tanner Van Lines is not involved in resolving the claim at all. To date, I have not been provided with any time frame or plan for how my claim will be resolved, EXCEPT I have been advised that if I try to mitigate or fix or replace my damaged items (about 25 pieces), then my claim may be denied.
