Horrible Experience, Nice and ...

I have thought long and hard on whether to leave a negative review, because, after all, it REALLY IS a family-owned business. I once called Wayne after hours and I could hear his children in the background. That being said, I still feel like I need to leave an honest, thorough review for any of you who might be using this company. My husband and I moved from Atlanta to Cincinnati. We packed everything ourselves with the help of a two day laborers and my father. From Atlanta to Cincinnati, an 8 hours drive, we unpacked out things into our Mt. Adams' apartment and found everything was stellar. That building had roach problems, so we moved exactly a month later down the street to Walnut Hills. Literally, it is .8 miles away. Not even 1 mile. Our new apartment building requested that all new residents use professional movers. That is where Wayne and Family comes in. There were three men who loaded all of our items onto a truck that was to drive for maybe 10 minutes down a road. Cutting through the park, there would be a few stop signs but not even a traffic light. IT WAS FOR THIS REASON that these guys thought they wouldn't need to put any blankets between the antique items, and that they would just stack things on top and next to each other in a half-ass sort of job. Here is an inventory of what got damaged: Our antique headboard, originally costing us $250 now with a huge dent 6 inches long in the center; Our brand new dining table has scuffs on every corner (4) and at least 1 leg on each of our 4 chairs also has scratches; Our antique roll-top desk has wooden pieces chipped off on the back corner; the antique wooden chair that goes with it simple SPLIT in half (I'm talking about the spine of the chair, which is solid wood 5 inches thick); my orange chest of drawers which I painted myself has all types of scratch marks on it now that I have to repaint; my silver and glass table now has scratches in it too which means I'll have to respray paint that; and our new Futon which we bought during our first month in Cincinnati also has scuff and scratch marks all along the metal frame. In the end, I still had to pay them THREE HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS for them to ruin my furniture. It took over 2 months for them to have a carpenter and wood repairer come out and fix the items that were even fixable. And let me tell you, they don't take a woman seriously. I called 4 times, I kept getting the run around. Finally it takes my HUSBAND to call, and me to call after him before they take me seriously. Ladies that REALLY makes me mad!! The carpenter comes out and fixes things the best he can, saying at the same time "Well, these scratches give your furniture more character." In the end, the repair work is like a bandage on the wound, it hides it to some degree but it is still there. If you STILL choose to use these people, I HIGHLY SUGGEST you watch their EVERY MOVE.
