Terrible Experience - Unprofessional, ...

Worst experience ever. The owner Denis Rice and his team are unprofessional, uncourteous. Not only they did not work well with us. They lost / damanged our items, showed up 15 days late than what they promised us. I lost 20% of my articles and it's been 3 months, I am still following up with them

Worst Company EVER !!

Went through a broker (had no idea that I was even using one. They never told me.) It was called Medal of Honor movers. I was quoted a price. They called a week later for a final inventory and, of course, cost went up. I was told that it usually ends up coming off at the end, it didnt. I paid 2000.00 over quote. NOW, for the best part..I moved to NC on Nov 21. I called them with a delivery date of Nov 25. On the 26th, I called and a woman told me that, "That ain't gonna happen before Thanksgiving." There was a man in the background telling her what to tell me. They told me to call after Thanksgiving and they would know more. I tried to call them 10 times on the Friday after. No answer. I called on Monday and got the ever gracious Dennis on the line (sense the sarcasm) This guy has NO customer service skills..at all. He informed me that my contract said no delivery for 30 days. It didnt say that. He told me he had NO idea when he was going to send my belongings, because he needed another customer going south, so he could do them both at one time. I told him I don't want him to do that, I paid alot of money and I was now in my home with NOTHING. He said, "I dont know what you think I can do. This is how it works" (no one ever told me that) December 1st and nothing. Another phone call with the delightful Dennis. This time, he screamed at me and told me my belongings were still in Michigan. December 5th, Dennis says he may have a truck going south in the next few days. On Dec 10th at 2:47, I received this text, "Hey this is XX with 8 mile moving just calling to let you know i will be in NC tonight ill see you in the a.m between 1130 and 12. Give me call back if you have any question payment is $997.48 can you please pay in cash." I had a job interview the next day at 11. I called XX and he said it was no problem, he would wait for me. The next day, he calls me at 10:30 am and says he will be at my house in 30 mins. WHAT ?? I called him again, and he said no problem, he would wait..again. I called on my way home and he said they were at Walmart, but would be to my house shortly. The guys that delivered were nice enough. They did bang into walls several times. Now, for the good part. They broke several hundred dollars worth of things. I find new things broken in every box I open. Then, I opened my dresser drawer and guess what !! A family of mice had made a nest in my clothes. I have NEVER seen so much mouse poop before !! They even chewed on my clothes to make a nest. Long story short, when you book a move, ask if they are a broker. If they are, find out what company they are going to use and research them. Do NOT use 8 Mile Movers for anything !! Dennis told me they did not have a website for me to leave comments on, so I am happy to do it here. Dennis told me I was abusive because I kept calling him demanding to get my stuff delivered. Its MY stuff and I paid ALOT of money, shouldn't I be able to get my stuff when I ask for it ?? Stay AWAY !!

They destroy not move

The pick up guys we great the drop off guys did not so inventory correct. I am missing like 2 boxes and have no idea which 2 but things i have owned for years are missing and my 65 inch tv was cracked use someone else spend the money on a company that will do u and your stuff right

Do not use this company

The movers that moved my items were good, but the company is a joke. They shipped my stuff by accident to me when I wasn't ready for it and called saying they were three hours out. I told the movers I didn't order it. They must have unloaded my stuff into someones yard to get to other stuff because my new recliner had dirt, grass and dead bugs on it. 21 of 42 heavy duty plastic moving bins were broken. I was missing and item and I had about 200 lbs of someone else's stuff in mine and was charged for overage! When I called today to make a claim no one answers. Please first the same of your property don't use or store you items with this company.

Very professional

I was to say the least stressed out about my move. Everyone is. But every single aspect of this move went just amazing. Great packing job, and thanks for pointing out a few things I self packed and how they needed a little more packing to be safe. I could tell the crew had been doing this for years. All arrived on time and now I can live out my retirement they way I wanted to.

Total Scam/Robbery/Crooks!!

Had a terrible experience using this company's services. My 78 year old mom moved from Michigan to Georgia a month ago. We went through a broker (Sentry Vanlines)and they didn't give us the name of the company until the day before the move. So we didn't see the reviews for this company or else we would have never gone through with using 8 Mile. This whole ordeal has been a complete nightmare. Let's start off with my mom's items not only arriving a week later than estimated. But also boxes arriving damaged resulting in items inside being broken,a broken television,and missing valuable items (A painting and a Sony camera). Completed a claim through 8 Mile and they offered my mom $120 which is said to be the weight of the items that were damaged. These people are unprofessional and do not care about people's belongings. Huge lesson learned here. Do not go through a broker for your move!! Do your own research and find someone reliable!! Will never use your services again!

8 Mile moved me from Detroit down here to Hollywood, FL. The best thing I can say is how uneventful the move was. They came and wrapped and loaded everything professionally and efficiently. My items arrived a week later down here and there was no damage. I couldn't have asked for a better crew. Great job guys! I know not many folks will go online and leave good reviews for the moving company. Most folks only come on these sights to complain, but I wanted to take a minute and say thank you for a great move! Keep it up!

DO NOT USE!!!

ZERO!!!! THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE YOU COULD IMAGINE. This company was brokered as my mover through Allstate Movers. The scheduled move date was changed because of an error on Allstate's part...so as late as Thursday afternoon, I was getting calls confirming pick-up on both Friday and Saturday mornings. Completely and utterly disorganized. When the movers showed up, they did not have anything to cover my carpeting. I am being assessed a carpet cleaning fee for the tracks made by the movers. Within the first 20 minutes, a guy who told me, "I'm just doing this to help out a friend, I work at a coffee shop" DROPPED a box clearly marked FRAGILE and broke a glass pitcher and a glass (he had it balanced on top of a stack). Only ONE piece of furniture was wrapped and that was only wrapped because my daughter told them to. Then somehow, miraculously, Denis was able to tell me how much my balance was going to be even though it was supposed to be dependant on the weight of my items. (I moved 6 months earlier and my weight was a bit over 6000 pounds - Denis was telling me my weight was over 9000 pounds.) Denis tells me the movers would be at my new place Sunday morning between 9 and 9:30 - at 10:30 I finally called him, only to be told that they were still "waiting on another guy." They finally showed up at 11:45. They also did not have anything to cover the carpets, so I rounded up some old blankets to lay down. I have a very tight corner to get into the living room - after they got my biggest piece into the room, I checked the hallway walls - there were a few scratches but nothing major. BUT after they pushed and pulled and scraped my sofa up, I checked the walls again and there are some pretty significant gouges and scrapes. I told them before they brought the sofa in, that it was able to be taken apart because they had delivered it to me in three pieces - they couldn't figure it out, so they just stuffed it up and scraped the hell out of the walls. EVERY piece of furniture I have has new marks - at one point, they were carrying in my vanity and they banged it against the wall - I was right there and said, "Boy you just banged the hell out of that one" and Darryl said, "Oh did we?" The most significant of damages were to my large cabinet in the master bedroom - the back of the piece is entirely cracked and broken. Darryl said two or three times, "Oh man...that must've happened in the truck!" The top of my hope chest has new gouges in it - it had some minor scratches, but nothing like now. Lastly, my television no longer works. Plugged it in - turned it on, and nothing. When the movers were here, there was one man who spoke little to no English - he couldn't read what was written on the boxes and didn't understand when we would tell him where things belonged - my daughter and I ended up moving many boxes to different rooms because they were put in the wrong room.
