Threatened and Intimated Me for More ...

I used this mover based on my family member using them twice before. They were 2-3 hours late, and charged me extra for them being late and having to provide a new crew. I was flexible with them on this and should’ve stood my ground as they continued to rip me off. They were telling my how my furniture was trash and how I needed to tip them nonstop. When we got to my new apartment they started threatening me to tip them and when they left, I had told them to deal with their manager. They intimidated me into paying $300 more then the quote (saying they wouldn’t unload my stuff until I paid); after being late, damaging my items and using my packing materials. They proceeded to call and threaten me because I didn’t tip the foreman who constantly told me to “tip him and his guys or else…”, leading me to feel unsafe in my home and not spend the first week in my new apartment. I tried calling their owner and she’s completely ignored me after she said she would handle this situation. I wouldn’t recommend this mover to my worst enemy. Stay away.

LOOK Else Where!!

LOOK ELSEWHERE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY! I had been a loyal customer of Family Moving for many years and many moves, however our recent move in April was absolutely horrible on many fronts. The team was not professional, extremely disrespectful to us and our items. Only one crew member was actually doing a good job, the other two were either hidden away or not in the right state to be on a job site. They complained about our stuff, how heavy our stuff was, how much stuff we had instead of moving at an efficient pace. They proceed to take almost 7 hours for a move that should have taken 3 hours and that my husband and I could have moved faster than this crew. They did not come prepared with blankets or enough shrink-wrap, and all of our items ending up with scratches and dents on it. They also dragged our white mattress across the building's floor resulting in a brown mattress. After submitting a claim for these items, the best they had to offer was $58 for over a $700+ move. Please do your research and look elsewhere for reliable moving company, this company does not warrant your business, unless you want horrible service.

Worst Decisions I've Made in a While.

Worst decision I've made in a while. I hope with this review I can save someone from the horrible situation that I was put in last weekend. What started bad got worse and worse over the course of the day. The drivers were 2 hours late and the leader of the crew "Bill" (or Navil) immediately starts going over paperwork with me. He asks me to sign documents saying that I will pay for materials without having a total yet. He said that since the costs are non negotiable, I dont have a choice but to sign and if I dont they will leave so I signed. Then, after loading all of my belongings onto their truck he told me the total cost for materials was $365. This was a ONE BEDROOM HOUSE. Astronomical and preditory practices. They then get to my new house and claim that the job was under quoted, so they need an additional 2 hours of work to unload everything. Essentially they were demanding an additional $615, and if I refused to pay they threatened to drive away with my belongings until I paid them. THEN after some time went by they claimed that they once again underestimated the time it would take and asked for ANOTHER $125. All the while stressing how all of my payments didnt include any gratuity for the crew. Criminal. I could go on and on. They damaged my belonging, hit my walls MULTIPLE times scraping paint and damaging drywall, didnt put my furniture back together as agreed, I overheard occasional rude comments and cursing, cigarette and breaks while on the clock, general goofing around instead of working, frustration when asked to take heavy boxes upstairs and on and on and on. Terrible experience. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Family Moving were fantastic!

The movers were beyond helpful, they were courtesy, patient, kind and friendly and delicate with all of our belongings! They showed up early, rearranged all of our furniture for us including putting 2 bed frames together and allowed for us to take some time to decide on rugs, furniture pieces etc. to make our new apartment feel like home! They moved everything with ease and care and were so polite about the entire move! They were extremely professional and for a price you cannot beat! I would recommend this moving company for every move!

The movers were right on time! They were right at my door steps. The movers did an amazing job loading my things into their truck. All my things were packed and I was ready to move. When we got to my new place, all my things were nearly placed and was easy for me to unload. BEST EXPERIENCE! Would highly HIGHLY recommend this team.

This is the second time we have used Family Moving and they did a great job, were on time, fast and efficient. Movers were very professional and handled all of our belongings with care. They even went above and beyond and tried to help repair our dresser that was damaged previously. Overall, I would recommend them to anyone and it was easy and smooth experience.

This was my first time using Family Moving and I will never move without them again. These guys are real pros, they don't try to take advantage of you and they don't take any shortcuts with your personal items. Everything was carefully wrapped and packed and they were done and gone in three hours. Also super nice and friendly guys. I will definitely be using this company again.

I appreciate their customer service!!

First, they had easy, upfront rates with no hidden charges or extra fees. Second, they called us the day before to confirm. The day of the move they showed up 15 minutes early and had everything needed for safely moving and wrapping our furniture. We were moving from an apartment into a two story house. They handled the stairs with no problems and were great in assisting with putting things back together. Nice to see that they take that much care. I will use them for my next move.

They were flexible with my timing and dates. The quote I received was nearly half the price of other competitors. These guys showed up a bit early and were eager and ready to go. Family moving exceeded my expectations on all fronts, they called when they said they would, were quick to respond, arrived early, were professional, took great care of my things and very efficient with their time. I couldn't have asked for a better crew. I would recommend them to anyone.

Do not use this company!

We used this company on March 18. 2018 to unload a few pieces of furniture from a truck. They were almost 2 hours late! We were lied to about the status of their arrival and never received an apology or a refund of the travel time part of the cost.

Best movers I've every worked with. Family moving crew worked fast and were very efficient. Very hard workers who want to ensure they get the job done right. They were very clean and made moving a breeze. I highly recommend these guys anytime you need to move. I would definitely use these guys in the future.

Excellent service!!!

These guys moved me across town yesterday, and I was thrilled with how easy and quick it was. They gave me a quote quickly and stuck to it, no hidden anything. They got the whole thing done in 2 hours, very cheerful and professional. This was so much less painful than I thought it would be, and the stress it took off my shoulders made it 100% worth the money. I highly recommend and will call them again next time I move.

Friendly, flexible, fast and super fun. I've moved many many times and never did I enjoy myself as much as with Family movers and their crew. They were prompt, efficient and extremely flexible. Professional moving company!!

We had a great experience with Family moving. Everything was laid out clearly, priced as discussed, and professionally followed up. They were quick to get things rolling, had a courteous staff for both the meeting and the move. They packed everything with care, disassembled and reassembled everything well. Were on time and stayed on time through out the day. I would highly recommend them.

Trustworthy

For long distance moving it is important to get a trustworthy company with honest workers that would help you in that important moment of your life. My family and I moved and even though it was an emotional and hard moving process, the company made sure to make our moving smooth and professional. I have to say that the price was reasonably low; the service on the highest level and our satisfaction is still present. Family Moving Storage Inc is really the best.

DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS! THEY WILL TAKE ...

I hired Family Moving to help me move from one apartment to the next. I requested 3 guys and they came 45 mins early which was great...but they reeked of marijuana. The move took 2 hours longer than expected and a majority of the time was spent at my old place where the guys weren't moving many boxes. I caught them standing around a lot waiting for boxes to come to them. I helped move a ton of boxes and finish organizing where everything went in the truck. Overall the move out of my old place was slow and made for the guys to crunch to get things done at my new place. Which normally is fine and in the moment was fine to me. After the fact, I noticed that several of my antique and fragile furniture and boxes were damaged, along with the floors in my new apartment. I specifically called out these items to the guys and asked them to be careful with the items. I saw one of the guys drop a box that contained kitchen items...later discovered broke plates. And then my antique dresser was broken...the side of it is split about 6 inches up from the bottom, all the way through the wood wall. I get it that things get broken during a move but I was disappointed to find the items these guys wrapped in blankets and moved for me were broken. I caught a couple of the guys standing around not moving furniture several times and was disappointed by this as I was paying them by the hour and was moving boxes myself. I suggest the guys take their time and listen to the client and not drop boxes. I was very clear from the beginning with my expectations and accommodating throughout the entire move. I will probably consider another company to help me move next time. My advice to those who read this, do your research on each and every moving company. Don't go with one because the price is less than others. Update: they have offered me a settlement of $23 after I spent nearly $800 to hire them. They don't take into consideration how much it costs to replace a dresser, bookcase, broken lamp, broken dishes and damages to my apartment floors. I asked for a full refund, which I think is fair, and they offered me a low ball settlement. What a joke! DON'T HIRE THESE GUYS!

The movers were incredible. They showed up on time and worked their butts off. They unloaded a 16' truck into our third floor apartment being incredibly careful.

My experience with these movers made me to agree that they are really good. I thought that they were just like other bunch of lazy folks that work in other moving company when I first hired them. However, they are powerful, courtesy and work with unmatched demeanor. Nothing was damaged in my move with them which is a sign of professionalism in service. Due to the fact that I have oodles of stuffs I wanted to move, I thought that I will need extra storage unit. But, they guys from Family Moving came with big truck that accommodated the entire stuffs ones without no need for storage unit. The move was timely and peaceful.

LOVED these guys!

We moved into a house in Wilmington with over 30 stairs. The crew stayed energetic- bounding up the stairs at times, I kid you not!-and well mannered and pleasant the entire long day. I don't remember the leader's name, but he was organized, pleasant and helpful. I was really impressed with the this crew! Setting the move up over the phone was easy. The sales rep was a huge help with some of my questions and concerns. I highly recommend these guys!

Trustworthy!

These guys are great. I've used them on long move. Very efficient and hard working, and I felt very comfortable with them handling all of my stuff and they were super nice too. I will definitely use them again when/if I decide to move again and I would recommend to anyone moving long or short distances.

Great moving company!

I paid HALF of what the other moving companies quoted me. They showed up on time, came prepared, were careful with my things and had a good attitude. They then proceeded to wrap my furniture. Throughout the day they were very courteous. I couldn't have asked for a better company to handle my move. There is no doubt I will be calling Family Moving for my next move.

Excellent from Start to Finish

There are hardly any movers in Illinois who can do a better job than what was done for me by Family Moving during my latest move. I have used various movers during my past moves and was never satisfied with any of them. But Family Moving showed great professionalism in the way they not only handled my things, but also how they handled me as a customer. I felt that they cherished my satisfaction and it would be unfair if I do not commend them well and recommend them. They do not disappoint.
