My Experience With My Angel Movers

Beginning in late April or Early May I met with Mr. Michel [pronounced Mee Shell] Ferdinandy as the sales representative of My Angel Movers. He estimated the load to be 800 cubic feet. I wanted to fail on the safe side so I requested his estimate be raised to 1000 cubic feet, which he did. No fuel surcharge was discussed at the sales meeting with the sales person but he quoted me $3500 for the job based on a 1000 cubic foot load. He was awarded the job based on this estimate.. The initial estimated charge was $3000, the additional 300 cubic feet were charged at $3 per cf with an additional $900 charge added at load out. A fuel surcharge was added at 10% of the total cost at $390. I feel this is beyond what I should have paid based on the average fuel price and amount consumed on the one way trip. An additional charge for a safe [bulky item charge] was added at $250. The total charges were $4,540 and $710 was paid as a deposit leaving a remainder $3830 to be paid at the load out once the load was measured by the actual volume being used inside the truck. The actual final total was a full $1,040 above what the estimate was which is a 23% increase over the estimated amount of $3500 + $250 bulky item move. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WHO DEALS WITH THIS COMPANY.] Get everything documented on the work ticket so there are no conflicts or questions later on.] Be sure to have the estimated cubic footage as the final price paid. If the estimate is too low the company should eat the extra costs, within reason. In my case a gross error of nearly 23% low was made in the estimate. Accurate estimating is the key to accurate pricing with no last minute surprises for “extra charges”. Get firm delivery dates for your move, no change once the items have been loaded. If the customer agrees to any change, then adjustments need to be made to the price. Beware of items going into storage w/o customer permission Accept no verbal agreements. Make sure all specific parameters regarding the move w/every detail covered. Never, ever believe what some one tells you, make sure you have it in writing on the work ticket or contract documents. Beware of the tactics of the owner, he will do everything in his favor Fuel surcharge is well above the actual price paid for the fuel charged as a flat rate of 10% of load. My trip meter was below 900 miles one way to Inverness, FL based on traveling Route 301 S to Interstate 95 the rest of the way to Florida. 900 / 8mpg=112.5 gallons x $2.443 price per gallon average [Penske online estimator] =$274.84.
