Worst movers over the past 40 year!! ...

10/14/22 I hired Safeway Moving System and they contracted NW Relocation to pick up my furniture and boxes in Happy Valley Oregon on 10/22/22. My belongings were dropped off in Pleasanton CA on 11/12/22. This company,NW Relocation, lost the following: 5-boxes with my most expensive dress clothes, light weight back packing gear: pack, down sleeping bag, camping gear, computer power back up and desk lamp,a life time of photos and momentos from the past 50 years, brand new king sized sheets, rolling tool chest with drills and other expensive tools, marble table top and they also lost a second table. My tall mirror was smashed to pieces,my coffee table was smashed to pieces. The hardware for my desk,3-shelving units and curtain rods was in my tool box which was lost so it rendered all of that useless. Other boxes arrived already opened or ripped or crushed. I have moved many many times over the past 40 years and this is the very worst damage and the most lost items in one move I have ever experienced. The expense of these items should raise suspicion that this was purposeful and not an accident because my old clothes or old towels or old pots were not lost! I have called and sent e-mails to the NW Relocation company and I just keep getting the same "form e-mail letter" back stating to file a claim. I want my belongings back and no one is looking for them in the warehouse. Pennies on the dollar for damage is not acceptable. A full box of photos taken over the past 50 years is not replaceable. I have already paid for $200.00 of tools just to be able to do work around my new apt. I had to buy new sheets for my king bed, another $90.00 and a new desk and new desk lamp (both for over $400.00) so I can work from home for my new job. I paid over $4000.00 for this move and now I have to re-purchase all of the belongings lost and broken or ruined (because I have no hardware to rebuild my desk or shelves). This adds insult to injury! I have never had such damage and dealt with such complacency and unprofessionalism and poor customer service for lack of returning my calls and e-mails. Are they trying to search for the location of my belongings? Were my belongings delivered to another location? After all, these movers tried to deliver one box to me that was not mine and I asked them to return it back to the truck!

A Horrible Moving Experience I Hope ...

We were contracted out to NW Relo by Empire Moving Group, for which I am deeply saddened and I hope you never share the same fate. *PLEASE* do not engage business with them directly. On move out day with NW Relo, we got a paper saying for the given mileage we would get our items in "up to 21 days". No asterisk saying that meant business days vs calendar days and nothing to indicate it was a weak / next-to-worthless guess or hope vs something contractually accountable for. We emailed and called a couple times to understand when to expect movers vs us doing errands/outings in our new home, and it was only right around 3 weeks in that they clarified that 28 *business* days (> 1 1/2 months!) was what they _really_ meant when they had ample time to be transparent earlier. When the movers arrived roughly a month after move out, they were missing a ton of items: Among them all 5 out of 5 of our beds being incomplete or missing entirely. Zero apologies, zero rushed fix, and it took a full week for them to realize/acknowledge there was a ton of our stuff including beds still in our warehouses. Apparently back-of-the-line treatment is what we got because it took another month for Round 2 of the move to arriver, and never once did they give an estimated date. Threatening to go to binding arbitration was sometimes the only way to get them to respond to emails in a timely manner. We also repreatedly complained that they did not reassemble furniture that they had disassembled on the move out, something we specifically paid extra for. Our first set of movers went AWOL at the end of the day, leaving many of the upstairs boxes down in a downstairs holding zone too. The 2nd set of movers told us point blank they didn't do "Ikea" stuff but NW Relo distinctly told us that reassembly of anything disassembled was indeed the service we paid extra for + >80% of skipped furnitures wasn't even particle board. I will separately pursue for monetary compensation, refunding for services I was not granted, and I will expect the highest level of customer service just like you would expect from a cable company *sarcasm*. You have been warned.

Do not hire

This company “lost” and damaged an unbelievable amount of our belongings. They lost furniture, totes, and small expensive items that were packaged inside delivered boxes. They also left a 9ft gouge in our band new wood floor and refused to compensate us for the damage. The Better Business

Do Not Use

My move was brokered through Trinity Relocation Group and NW Relocation was the carrier they contracted with. I am extremely dissatisfied with both companies but this review is for NW Relocation. To make a long story short, our household goods were picked up 9/21/2020 and delivered 12/11/2020. The bed was missing, found, and delivered 12/21/2020. That is 3 months that I and my 74-year-old father, who is handicapped and wheelchair bound, lived in an empty apartment! I have a timeline of events consisting of all the phone calls and emails to both Trinity and NW in trying to get an answer on when our items would arrive. It was always a similar response, “a driver and route has been assigned, we will update you when the items have left the warehouse”, or, “we are just waiting for a trailer to become available”. I couldn’t even get a vague idea of how long it may be. I gathered my facts because I seriously thought I was going to have to hire an attorney to get our items back. Bottom Line: NW Relocation out of Oregon was impossible to work with. Of course, there were contractual clauses with NW, (they are allowed 30 days to deliver due to unforeseen circumstances or you receive a $25 per day discount for every day they are late) and my issues have been resolved, though not to my satisfaction. I do not recommend going through a broker for a move, nor do I recommend using NW Relocation Services. They should not be in business.

Good service, Satisfied!

The services they provided to us were amazing and made our work really easier for us. The movers were punctual and proficiently wrapped all our belongings and furniture to avoid them from any harm during the moving process. However, we still find it a little pricey, tho we never compared how much other movers charge.

Least satisfied of 6 packouts

We had a scheduled 2 day packout for Monday and Tuesday, July 29 and 30. Packout was rescheduled for 30 July. Packers arrived around 12PM 30 July. After a house walk thru, they said they would work thru the day to finish. Around 5PM, they quit, saying they would return tomorrow 9AM to 11AM. They arrived around 11:30, telling me they had another job and were already late. Overall they did a decent job. But the would not disassemble the coffee table or entertainment stand, remove the connected TV stands. They said it would take too much time and they were already late. The team leader said even if I needed the whole 2000cubic feet of the truck, the increas would be about $600.Packing these items assembled helped to increase the cubic footage by about 400 cubic feet. I was estimated at 1400 cubic feet of truck space. It was now slighty over 1800. At $1 per cubic foot, plus additional fees the cost increased by almost $2000, a far cry from the $600 for the whole truck space. My preshippayment went from $3110 to $4049. Now my devivery payment also increased from $3110 to $4049. We accepted the charges because we had no choice. Prior to leaving we were asked to do a walk thru to see if anything was missed. They had taped shut the kitchen cabinets to indicate they were empty. When we went to open one, the team leader said "No, leave those alone. The tape tells us they are empty." We did as he asked. They left around 4:30, complaining they were late. That evening was removed the tape from the cabinets. To out dismay, we saw one lower cabinte with full set of pots, pans and a pressure cooker. They were not in the original place we kept them. The packers or one of them moved them to this cabinet and later marked it as empty. Sending these to my destination will cost upwards of $50. The crew was professional except in doing as asked and taking shortcuts that cost us dearly. I was given a evaluation questionnaire to fill out while the team leader looked on. I rated them overall as good. It is hard to be truly honest when the one you are evaluating is looking on. This was our 6th packout experience. This one least met our expectations.

You need to be insane to use this ...

Interstate move from Idaho to Florida In the early stages of dealing with this company I was alarmed to find after-the-start that there is a BBB warning to not use this company. Reading their reviews there are repeated comments about damage, lost items and possible theft. When I called them to get reassurance about the quality of their service I was told by Sari (customer service agent) that they were fake reviews. Sari also told me that items always get damaged when being moved!! I asked to talk to the customer service manager and was told that she DOES NOT TAKE PHONE CALLS FROM CUSTOMERS. Sari then hung up on me! After numerous several false starts my stuff was finally picked up three weeks later. I again called and Sari told me my stuff has been sitting in storage and she had no idea when it would be picked up. Because I have sources I happen to know that everything has been on a truck in route for SIX DAYS!!!! When I confronted her with this info she did not offer to double check and when pressed to do something, she simply hung up on me......AGAIN!!!!!! Over the couple of months I’ve sent emails asking the Manager to call me. No response. Customer service is nonexistent with this company. Good luck if you choose these people! Now I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. Will it be damage (which Sari assures me will happen), lost items or theft? Well, the day finally arrived a few weeks ago and guess what! Over $2,000 in missing items, severely damaged furniture and boxes that were crushed. Not only was this a completely sloppy move but they DID NOT live up to their contract - fragile items and furniture were NOT wrapped with blankets. Now I'm faced with filing a claim for thousands of dollars and expect to get less than $100 when it is all said and done - their claim process can take up to 90 days and then if you don't agree with their claims department it will take up to another 90 to go to arbitration. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Major items were lost including a 150 lb + glass table top, very expensive cutlery, dishes and various other missing household items. I have a very expensive Drexel hutch that looks like it tumbled down a cliff! It has been weeks since the delivery, at which time I immediately reported damage and missing items. Nobody has called me since with an update on missing goods - not a peep. They don't care!

NW Hostage Takers

I originally contracted with Moving Pros US to relocate me from the Seattle area to Nashville, TN. They subbed out the actual move to NW Relocation / GTS Shipping out of Portland, OR. Both have steered and continue to steer me incredibly wrong. My complaint is against both companies and any other shadow organizations under which they do business. Original (binding) quote from MPUS--$3954.77 on 08/14/2019 was done by Lisa Cross (good cop) over the phone (now I see that's a red flag!). At the time, I was asked to and paid a deposit of $1155.54. Revised (binding) quote from MPUS--$4695.75 on 08/19/2019 was done by Nikki Price (bad cop), also over the phone. Despite my insistence that nothing had really changed from the original quote, she increased by cubic footage, the basis for charges, from Lisa's 642 to 727, letting me know politely that she has years of experience and is usually within 5-10%. If I take up less room than the 727 cubic feet, my charge will go down again. At this time, Nikki asked for an additional $1768.48, which I paid, even though the total difference between the first estimate and second was only about $700. Enter GTS / NW Relocation, the physical shipper. Had I known they were the company who would be handling my goods, they would have never been allowed in the house. All you have to do is read BBB and Yelp comments to know they're shady as the arboretum. The moving crew wasn't all that bad. Only Bryan spoke English but seemed to be pretty together. They did, however, do whatever they could to increase the volume of my load--taking pillows, etc., out of drawers and repacking them separately, not taking furniture apart, packing loosely, etc. They also had false numbers written on the inside of the truck showing cubic footage. Long story short, they packed my things into about 600 cubic feet, less than the original estimate, and want to charge me, now, for 950. They're currently holding my load hostage at an undisclosed location.

HORRIBLE customer service

We went through American National Van Lines which is a broker. Kate gave us the estimate and said that someone would be in contact with us every step of the way. We never heard from anyone! NW RELOCATION showed up at my son's house in Portland Oregon and were very friendly and careful with his things. We were quoted a week delivery time and were told the driver would call us the day before. This was on September 2nd 2014. We hadn't heard anything from them so we called on Sept. 8th you get put on hold and then told they are all busy so leave a message. They never call you back! We called the broker and complained about not bring able to reach them, they tried calling a nd got the same result . Finally 2 days later I got through and spoke with Dawn. She has NO customer service skills at all and is not a nice person. We were told they would be here Sept. 13th or 14th no one showed or called! We called back again, leaving more messages and having a hard time getting someone on the phone. We are then told that the truck broke down and is behind schedule putting delivery off till Sept 17th or Sept 18th. Again no one showed or called us. We call again and are told that the driver is having to do a lot of shuttle runs which take more time so delivery would be Sept 20 to 21st. They finally called on Sept 22 and said they would be delivering the next day which made it a total of three weeks. The problem was that stuff was missing and they didn't even care of try to find it. They never appoligized for anything. We were told that they would go up one flight of stairs to place the things in his room we have 12 stairs so they wanted another 75.00$ we refused to pay that so his things were left out back on the deck. The delivery drivers that showed up here in New Jersey were not friendly at all. The whole experience was extremely stressful.

They were terrible

Lack of communication, when they went to pick it up they were six hours late. They delivered somebody else's belongings that we had to pay for. They forgot some of our belongings that they're supposed to be sending back but that was three weeks later. Very disorganized-- you call for customer service and ask for the manager's name and number and they won't give it to you. They only give you a first name, no contact number. It was horrible.

I couldn't be happier with them

I had a great experience with them. They did everything they said they were going do, they were polite, they contacted me in a timely manner, always gave good customer service.I communicated with the driver who gave me an almost to the hour exact time that he would show up and he did and he handled everything with care and all of my stuff was perfect, I couldn't be happier with them, everybody i dealt with was polite and did everything they said they were going to do, it was the best customer service I've had from a company in a really long time.

I would refer this company to my ...

They didn't deliver the product as promised--I received my stuff only day before yesterday. But everything was good, nothing was damaged. The pricing was good, the amount they agreed to me, that's how much I paid. I didn't pay any extra amount or anything. My sofa and furniture was packed really well. When I received my stuff, it was totally good, no damage. Customer service was initially good, but when they delayed our stuff, when we called the customer service, the lady was a little rude to us. But the driver who delivered our stuff was a very nice guy. He unloaded the stuff without any trouble.

I would not say it was great

The price that I was quoted was half of the price that I had to pay. When my things arrived here, the driver wanted to charge us an extra $150 to move it from the truck to our storage unit. The move was great, it was just the price that I was not happy with. [The crew] was perfect.

Costed us additional charges

It was all great until we got to Miami. They said that they would store our stuff for 30 days and the moving guy had sent our stuff too early. He was really rude and made us get a storage unit because he said he wouldn't deliver it any other time or he would charge us $400. It was just rough. Right now our stuff is, instead of being in the storage of the moving company, is lying in our own private storage that we had to pay for on top of the moving. The people in Denver were great, it wasn't until we got to Miami that things got ugly.

Not a pleasant experience

Actually we had some problems. We tried calling them. We tried emailing them and they never even contacted us back. They raised our price by $1,300. They broke some things. They damaged our walls but nobody ever bothered to call us back. I sent him an email. I took pictures. They left all the trash from the move in the front yard and in the street and pulled away and left it all there. I kept pictures of it and emailed those to the company as well and we never even got a call back. So I wasn't very pleased.

Average moving experience

It was okay. The first time when the movers came, half of our things were missing. They had to bring them on the second trip but that took another week or so. Some of our things are broken. Price was cheaper than the other companies. Packing was good. I probably would not recommend them. The people that dropped it off were good. The people that picked it up - they packed it well, but money-wise, they were not that good.

Disappointing experience

I had 18 boxes of books moved and they only arrived with 17. They lost one box of books. And another thing was that there was a table insert. Sometimes you can open up a table and split in half and put an extra piece of wood to make it longer. They didn't wrap that. It was nicked and chipped. It's a piece of wood that is part of the table top. They wrapped the table but they didn't wrap the twin piece. I should have caught that. I should've asked them why they didn't. Maybe they just thought it was a piece of wood. Maybe they didn't understand that it was actually part of the table. They didn't wrap it. Another thing was there was a lamp. I didn't put it into a box because I wanted it wrapped by itself. They took it apart and they put it into a box. One of the pieces of the lamp is missing now and I can't use the lamp. Well it's a top piece. So there is a piece that is missing and they took it apart. And other thing was when the movers arrived they asked me if their truck can come up close to where the storage place was. I told them I wasn't sure that it could. It turned out it could. At the time, I thought the truck would have to stop and put things on the sidewalk and carry them from there. The person seemed to get really upset about that and was saying oh that will cost more. I told that person that would be fine. Just have him leave it on the sidewalk and I would move them in. He didn't seem to be happy about all of that. In the end, it turned out that he could move right up to the door. After that he was very nice and helpful. At first he wasn't. When we took things into the storage, the tables were wrapped. They had to disassemble the tables themselves. I thought they were gonna move the tables but they took the legs off and wrapped them separately. I guess that is reasonable because it fits better into their moving van. When they got to the storage center they didn't put the tables back together again. I am not sure if that is good or bad. I decided to believe them as it is because maybe it is better that way. But if they took them apart they should at least offer to put them back together again.

Helpful crew and prompt service

I thought they were great. They did a great job. They were very helpful. They were on time. Can't think of anything to complain about. Price was what I expected. They did provide everything I requested. Packing was done to my satisfaction. They really did a good job. The crew were very nice. They were very friendly and on time. For me, because I read online, I kinda knew what to expect. I think other people think it's gonna be exactly what the estimate they give you is. They don't read small print about adding tape and all that. So for me it was fine because I read that. It might need to be made clearer for other people. Nothing really broke. I mean a couple of things broke - a leg of an antique dresser. It would be very hard to move without breaking anything.

Stressful and unprofessional

Agent got his commission, but not very truthful about arrival date, altho there was a 5 to 14 day delivery date in the contract. They were told an appointment was needed by the apartment complex to bring in the big truck. When the truck finally arrived a week and a half later, the driver was alone, wasn't going to stay to deliver the furniture and had NO help. The mover could not provide the proper credentials, MC number. My daughter begged him to stay as she was starting her new job the next day, (with a moving company). Her boyfriend with a broken arm in a cast and my daughter helped move everything in. The furniture was not assembled or put in the proper places as stated in the contract. The customer service rep was rude, argumentative, defensive. We filed a claim within the 9 month period and was told they have no record or this claim. My calls have not been returned.

Avoid this company

We contracted Northwest Relocation for our move from Denver, Colorado to Raleigh, NC. We received our initial quote from this company on 7/1/13 with a pickup day of 7/9/13. We then had an additional load which was picked up on 7/22/13, three days past the promised pickup time, forcing us to delay our move and remain in Denver while we waited. My phone calls were never returned and I was forced to make multiple calls daily to receive the slightest bit of help. My questions were repeatedly dismissed by every service agent I spoke to, all of whom frankly could care less about any of my concerns. While these experiences were unpleasant and bothersome, they were only the tip of the iceberg. Our move in date had been set at 8/1/13 since my initial contract with the company on 7/3/13. This date was confirmed at every juncture of the process without any mention of the delivery being delayed or altered in any way. I never received any follow up calls, emails or notifications of any kind, leading me to believe that everything was still on schedule. On 7/30/13, I called again to verify the delivery of our items. At this point, after a bit of arm twisting they conceded to us that our things may not be there until 14 days after the stated delivery day. While this is buried in the fine print of their quotes, it had not been mentioned a single time in any way from the plethora of representatives I had spoken to within the company. Our date of 8/1/13 was confirmed to me a minimum of 10 times without a single person mentioning the "delivery window" until after they had taken all of our things, charged us and essentially taken us hostage. We are now in an empty home with none of our things for up to two weeks. At this point Northwest Relocation has established a pattern of poor service and general disregard for customers that I find utterly unacceptable. Between service reps hanging up on us, supervisors "gone for dentist appointments" and representatives blaming us for the situation,I am disgusted with the way we have been treated. I fully understand the verbiage in regards to the delivery time is in the contract, however to not point that out or even mention it until two days prior to delivery is terribly negligent. On top of that, to take a disrespectful and almost scolding tone with a customer who simply wants to be able to start their life after giving you thousands of dollars is just wrong. We continue to call and essentially beg for anybody to talk to and help us with no results. Our things finally arrived on 8/17. The drivers were nice enough and everything was there and in decent condition, but we were so upset with the company by this point it couldn't be recovered. They didn't respond to our BBB complaint, in fact they called us and essentially threatened us for making it. The customer service manager told us we were liars multiple times and we were unable to get an official price quote until 2 day

great movers

I recently used NW Relocation to move from Portland to Phoenix and I was quite happy with the company. Whitney talked me through my inventory process and explained how they price it. I was quoted about 2500 on the phone and that was the final price upon delivery. I have heard of places using hidden fees but NW Relocation didn't have any unwanted surprises. They picked up my stuff when they said they would and delivered it when they said they would. Upon delivery nothing was damaged or missing and the delivery people were professional and courteous. I would recommend this company to anyone who can use them, they did a fantastic job!

Not a good experience

It was pretty bad. They just were - in the begininig I guess... I just say their price was not as good. I guess they were competing with other companies to give me the smallest price but they kind of made me miss some things. They kind of told me when I told them I have four chairs and a dining table. They charged me for one chair and dining table to bring their prices lower. So when they came to my house and saw that it was four chairs, the prices started adding up, adding up and adding up.

Fairly priced good service

I would say it was fair. On the front end it was very good. The sales person and the guys that packed me up were great. The communication from the road was not as good as I had hoped for. They did have reasonable prices. There were few that were really high, few that were very competitive that were at a much lower rate. Yes I received all the services that I have requested. I did not use their packing services. I just had them pack my tv and one antique mirror. We are just fine. As far as their routine furniture packing, I would say they did a pretty good job. I only had minimal rub marks on one or two, otherwise everything arrived intact. If I have anything to say about them I will go on their site and do it.

Best company

I have only good things to say about this company. I had a small move (around 1400 #) and needed to move on a budget. Northwest Relocation was the by far the most affordable and professional of the companies I contacted. The 2 men who came to my house to load my things in Portland were professional and helpful. they advised me about some better ways to pack up a few stray items, covered the carpets with pads and were very efficient. My things were stored for a couple of weeks until I was ready for delivery. The driver stayed in touch with me about his location and arrival time and did a great job of loading things into my storage unit in an organized way and made sure everything was accounted for. The only caveat is that I really did not have anything expensive or breakeable like a flat screen TV, computer, or any large glass or fragile type items, so I don't know how that would have been handled. Some of my boxes were a little smashed but nothing major. This company rates high on professionalism and sheer helpfulness. They do just what they say will they will do and aren't a bait and switch rip off outfit like so many of the smaller moving companies out there. I will use them again and recommend them to friends.

Professional crew Good service ...

It was a fairly good experience. They misplaced the head board and box springs that we had to wait two weeks to get it. They found it in the warehouse. It was never loaded on the truck. Other than that everything went pretty well. The lady I dealt with, Peggy - she was very helpful and informative. The pickup in Denver was fine. It was just getting furnishing here after. Now we have everything and everything is all set up. The prices were very reasonable, better than any other that I contacted. The packing was very good. No damages at all. We had to wait two weeks for it but we got it on sunday. Thats all taken care of now. The crew were on time and were very professional. On the whole it was reasonably priced service.

Fantastic service

They were awesome. I can't recommend them enough to people. It was a great company that took care of my stuff. The people who picked up my stuff were awesome. They explained how the move was going to be in detail, gave me some tips to make sure everything went smoothly. The people who delivered my goods worked really fast. They came when they said were going to come. I had no problems. The deal they gave me was really great. There are some other companies that called me and told me they would price-match this company, but I checked out the other companies and some didn't have good reviews on BBB. This company's employees are super helpful on the phone answering any of my questions. They were friendly and efficient and did everything that they said. In short, they made my entire moving experience better.

happy customer

I was so impressed by the punctuality and generosity of the movers! I have had many bad experiences in the past with movers being late and not listening to my requests, but NW relocation really stepped up to the plate and did everything I asked of them. They were great!

Fantastic!

To be honest, we had reservations about using NW relocation services over another mover, but the person we discussed our move with Mike was really nice and walked us through all the steps; even the possibility that the weight may run over the standard. Well, it did as a matter of fact but I was pleased with the services and surprisingly, the cost was about the same as mentioned in the estimate. It was a relief as most other estimates on relocating from Beaverton to Arlington, TX were way over my budget and moving is stressful enough anyways. I would give them a A- and would recommend this moving service.

Great Service

I used NW Relocation to move from Portland to Los Angeles back in August. I only had 2 weeks to organize the move, since I was changing jobs and needed to physically be in Los Angeles to begin my new position. It was my first time coordinating a move, and I had no prior experience using professional movers. On top of that, I was on an important work project in Seattle during the week, so I couldn't be in Portland to get moving quotes in person. I contacted NW Relocation to see what the company could do, since I had such a tight deadline and limited ability to be in Portland. I worked with Tim and he was super helpful. He worked around my schedule and came to my Portland apartment on a Saturday morning to give me an in-person estimate. The estimate he gave me was very fair compared to quotes other moving companies had given me. I didn't have any other moving companies do an in-person quote, however. The movers were great (on both ends of the move) and my items were transported safely and delivered in really good condition. Overall, I highly recommend NW Relocation, I had a very positive experience and they have excellent customer service, while offering reasonable prices.
