Appalling behavior of the moving ...
This review is for two companies: All United Moving and Storage LLC as well as One of One Movers. I booked my move from Albany to Peoria with All United Moving and Storage (Job No. T6169523) on July 22. Jake Webber from All United Moving and Storage called me and told me that they are 5-star moving company and have not received a single complaint in last 4 years. He told me that I can bring in as many items as I want if the weight of the items is less than 2000 lbs. He confirmed that the goods will be moved by July 30, Thursday. From then on, I started coordinating with Aria Muhammed (Customer Service Coordinator) about the actual day of move. Every day she would tell me that next day someone would come and pick up my belongings from Albany. My goods were supposed to get moved maximum by July 31 as I had to fly to Peoria on Aug 1. It was extremely bad situation for me as I felt trapped having paid $657.00 to them as advance. The total moving cost was agreed on $1718.32. A driver (from One of One Movers) finally showed up 7 days later, on Aug 6 at my Albany apartment. I had only 14 large boxes, 1 IKEA king size mattress, 1 IKEA king size bed completely disassembled (disassembly resulted in 1 bed dismantled in 7 pieces), 1 side dresser (2 * 1), 1 side dresser, 1 COSCO Table Chair Box, 5 Travel Bags (Check-in size Bags). This was quite less than what was agreed upon. When the driver loaded my items in the truck, he tried to mint money out of me by saying that there were many steps in the apartment and also told me that he had to carry my belongings to the truck which was parked a long distance, but I showed him the contract and then he finally played his move by saying that my items are taking more than 486 cubic feet of space. As per contract, I was only entitled to 286 cubic feet of space and for every extra cubic foot, I would need to pay $4 extra which would mean that I would need to pay $800 extra than what was originally agreed. I was annoyed and perplexed. First of all Jake Webber never told me that there is any limitation on volume, all I was told that the items should not weigh more than 2000 lbs. Secondly, as Jake is a moving company, he should know how much space the items (that were mentioned in the contract) would take up. How any customer would know how much is 286 cubic feet and how \ why this figure was mentioned in the contract without discussing with me beforehand? Curiously, I calculated how much should be the volume of my belongings and I found that the volume was only 219 cubic feet. When I asked the driver that I want to verify how much space my belongings have occupied in the truck, he didn’t allow me to do that. This is cheating on my face. The two companies that I am dealing with have tested me to the hilt and I am sure they are an expert 5-star company in harassment and customer mishandling.
