I was a victim of fraud
I booked a cross country move with Puma and requested a quote to move a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house and was quoted 950 cubic feet on their truck with a rate per cubic foot, subject to change based on actual space used. The major items were confirmed a few days prior to the move and I was assured that the quote was at least in the ballpark for space needed for my items. When moving day came, the driver surveyed my entire house, all items that were to be moved, boxes included. He told me prior to starting to load the truck that he estimated my items would require 1400 cubic feet of space on the truck, increasing my cost by approximately 50%. This was very disappointing, but I had to carry on because they knew I had to get out of my house that day. This was just the beginning. The crew began loading items on the truck and a few hours later they told me they had reached the estimated 1400 cubic feet of truck space, and if I wished to have the rest of my things loaded, I would have to sign a new estimate. At that point, the driver had not loaded a single bed, dresser, or any furniture from my daughter's bedroom. The driver at this point let me know that it would require the whole truck for the remainder of my items to fit, which totaled 1900 cubic feet. So after this "professional" mover surveyed my entire house and every item present, he was off by another 35% on space. When questioned on this, he stated "I'm not sure why they gave you that original quote, a 4 bedroom house is always the entire truck". When I asked him why he had told me only 60% of the entire truck earlier in the morning after seeing all the items to be loaded, he told me "I didn't want to scare you off at the beginning." Basically admitting to defrauding me and lying about the cost of the move. He knew I was in a vulnerable position and had to get out of my house that day, and he took advantage. At this point, I asked to talk to his supervisor and he refused to allow me to talk to anyone else, instead blaming me for misrepresenting the amount of items to be brought on the truck. I reached out to my original sales representative, Sarah, who was extremely nice leading up to this point. She also blamed me for the problem and took zero responsibility and offered no recourse. I then had no choice but to pay over double the originally quoted price for my move. To make things worse, at the end of the loading, the driver let me know they couldn't fit all my belongings on the truck, and he drove away without offering another way to get my items out of the house. He left my Peloton treadmill, Big Green Egg smoker, coffee table and approximately 30 boxes in the house/garage. This forced me to open a storage unit for the next year and store a lot of my items instead of having them moved with me, another added expense. I also had to scramble and move all these large items by myself in less than 24 hours without any help. From the attitude of the driver, sales people, and management on moving da
