These movers will scam you. They deliberately low ball the quote to get you.signed on then add on a bunch of BS charges. My movers were the slowest movers in the entire world. It took them 10 hours to pack and move out a one bedroom apartment. Stay away from these movers if you like your money. They will scam you. Don't sign their blank estimate or you will regret it. That is how they scam you.

They worked very hard

They worked very hard but they're not delivering it on time. They got to my house very late on both days, packing day and moving out day. They worked very hard so it's kind of hard to be critical of them because they did get the job done. The only criticism I had was that I had some delicate items that I wanted to move myself and that I had packed myself. I had written down "do not pack or put in van" and they were working so fast that they did put it in the van. Now I'm gonna have to pay for the shipping and I don't know if it's going to arrive safely.

Relocation Nightmare

We had moved with Route 66 before they changed their name from Alpha. That was a local move and we were very happy with them. They performed an estimate based on the local move plus the addition of 6 large pieces of furniture that we had acquired in the meantime. They quoted $4025, the real amount came back closer to $10,000 after the final weigh in with the full truck. Added to this, they were late for the pack-up and underestimated how long it would take for the pack-up. They also brought a truck that was too small and ended up having to strap stuff to the back of it. Very disappointed.

Still waiting...

I recently relocated from Baltimore, MD to Atlanta, GA. Route 66 picked up my boxes and furniture on May 10. They were scheduled to pick up at 8am-noon. They did not arrive until after 2pm. I requested my stuff be delivered in Atlanta on June 6 or 7. The movers were unable to accommodate those dates. I was then told they would deliver June 24 at 8am-noon. I waited from 8am until 3pm before I was finally told that there was a miscommunication and they would deliver June 28. I got a call on June 27 saying that there was a problem with the truck so they wouldn't make it on June 28, but would try to deliver by July 4. July 3 I got a call saying actually it would be sometime after the 4th. Then I got a call saying I would definitely have my things by Friday, July 11. Today (July 10), I was told that I should expect my delivery on July 16. At this point I have paid over $3,000 for the move and storage alone, plus 2 months rent and a month's utilities at an apartment that I cannot live in because Route 66 has all of my furniture. I am beyond frustrated with this company. I do NOT recommend this company; they are unreliable and unprofessional. DO NOT use Route 66 Van Lines.

worst experience ever

This company.is a contractor for Colonial Van Lines. They have given five separate delivery dates to Colonial. After a month.and a half I still don't have my belongings. I cannot get them on the phone and apparently neither can Colonial.

Cancelled Last Minute

On 05/12/2014 we received a quote for our move for 06/02/2014. The day before our scheduled move, on a Sunday, we received a message that the truck that was reserved for our move had broken down. They also mentioned that we needed to reschedule our move - which was not able to be done due to scheduling conflicts with our (then) current address and new address. We were unable to get into contact with anyone from the company until 9am on the day of our move. By 10am (we were scheduled to move at 12pm) we were told that they were not going to be able to help us - I suppose renting a truck from another company to uphold our contract was out of the question - and we were forced to find another company at the last minute. The customer service when receiving the estimate was great...helpful and friendly...but the customer service that was received thereafter was extremely disappointing. This company only added more stress to an already stressful time and ultimately forced us to spend $1,300 more than what was estimated (since we were left to selecting a moving company the day of the move). In addition, we were also forced to pay fines to our previous residence for moving past our initial move time. Route 66 offered no compensation and no real help besides a "sorry" and a referral to a competitor. While their prices seemed to be cheaper than other companies, there's no price on reliability.

Great and easy, they took care of ...

It was great, it was easy, they took care of everything and I actually referred them to a friend, but it didn't work out so well for my friend. The packing service was fine, they told us when they came that they wouldn't take any boxes that weren't completely closed and they ended up charging us extra for those, which they didn't tell us about ahead of time, but it didn't end up being too much.

hey charged our credit card $95 ...

We had an estimate for like $700, and it turned out to be close to $1500. They used a lot of boxes to box things that they really did not have to box. It was like $500 worth of boxes. At the end, when they charged our credit card, they charged us instead of giving us credit for less hours used. We've been fighting with their company to compensate us for what they owe us back. We're not getting very far with it.

Moving experts

After getting several quotes we choose Route 66 Van Lines. They guaranteed us our pick up date and time and locked reasonable delivery window. Our sales representative Michael was very knowledgable and easy to deal with. We also had a customer service agent which we reached any time we needed it. We had great experience with the company. Good Movers at a Reasonable Price

The truth is these guys are the best movers I have ever used. This was the first time I ever paid the original estimated price. They showed up on time. Wrapped all my furniture in their blankets at no extra charge.Took two beds apart and put them back together with out me even asking. They did not break anything. They were clean and polite and the foreman was easy to speak with. I would use them again and recommend them to others looking for a good moving company.
