Most household appliances serve as a means to make life easier. Sometimes when you move into a new home, the previous owner takes their appliances with them, leaving you high and dry.

Here is our pick of appliances you should have in a new home.
1. Stove
Larger kitchen appliances like stoves and refrigerators are sometimes left behind during a move. However, if you find yourself in a home without a stove, or the stove the owners left behind has seen far better days, just get yourself a new one.
2. Washer and dryer
While having a washer and dryer may not be essential, it does save you from headaches. Being able to wash and dry your clothes without lugging them to a laundromat is a nice luxury to have.
3. Alarm clock
You'll need to be able to wake up in the morning so don't forget to pack or buy an alarm clock when you move into your new home. If you use your smartphone as an alarm clock, then perhaps you should invest in a few decorative clocks to place around your home instead.
4. Coffee maker
Should we really explain why this is on a must-have list? If you want to upgrade your coffee maker, now's a good time to do it. If you're not a coffee-drinker, then you should substitute your tea infuser or tea kettle of choice here.
5. Fridge
Without a fridge, what will you do? But seriously, if the previous owners didn't leave the refrigerator behind when they left, now's a great time to get a new one -- because you need it.
6. Toaster/toaster oven
A toaster or toaster oven is more versatile than you think. Instead of heating up your entire kitchen to bake a few cookies in the oven, you can easily bake some in your toaster oven. Toasting bread? No worries, it can handle that, too.
7. Microwave
Again, you might find yourself in a situation where the previous homeowner took their microwave with them to their new home. If that's the case, now's a great time to upgrade.
8. Television
New homes don't come equipped with televisions, and if you're moving to a larger home where you plan on watching TV in more than one room, having more than one TV would be helpful.
9. Computer
If you're a cordcutter and you're living (mostly) off the grid, a computer might be all you need in your home for entertainment purposes. Services like Netflix, Hulu and other streaming devices can offer you all the movies and shows you may ever need in your new home. They also come in handy if you are still waiting for the cable guy to show up.
10. Air conditioner
Unfortunately, not all homes are equipped with central air conditioning. If your house is one of them, be sure to pack an air conditioner for those hot nights.
No matter what's on your must-have list of appliances to buy for your new home, remember this: measure twice. That new fridge or stove might look awesome in the showroom, but remember if it doesn't fit, you're out of luck. What appliances do you plan to buy when you move into your new home?
