Get it in writing

Gordon Transportation moved us from California to Florida during the summer of 2015. They picked up our goods on the 20th of June and did not deliver them until the end of August -- a month past the promised delivery. There was damage, including to several items that were not properly packed but just tossed on top of their load. Most of it was incidental and we didn't care, but they busted up a $300 dining room chair. Their insurance coverage was measured per pound, so they sent us a check for $35. Their services were to include unpacking and hauling away the moving materials. When it came time to unpack, we had to negotiate for unpacking, and were still left with 20 large boxes and all of the packing materials. The $35 check bounced. For a good move I was prepared to file a good review. For a mediocre move, I would have been happy to leave well enough alone -- no review. But a bounced check for $35 says something really unpleasant about that organization and its management. Read more
