  • Work permit
  • Bill of Lading/Air Waybill

  • Authorization letter (notarized at a Jordanian bank, which gives permission for the Destination Agent to clear shipment)

SHIPPING REGULATIONS

If you are moving to Jordan permanently, you may import both personal effects (clothing, jewelry, toiletries) and household effects (furniture, rugs, linens, bedding, dishes, other furnishings) free of duty and tax if:
  • You have the intent to obtain residency
  • You must be in Jordan and should be present during the clearance process
  • Importation of household goods and personal effects should take place within six months of your arrival to Jordan
  • All shipments are subject to full inspection
  • For items that are locked, be sure to provide all appropriate keys
  • Household goods and personal effects are duty free if they have been used by the owner 30 percent--this is assessed by customs officials
  • Without proper documentation, duties and taxes on household goods and personal effects are about 47 percent of CIF value.
  • Returning Jordanian citizens must have lived abroad for a minimum of 12 months to import goods duty free

PROHIBITED ITEMS

In Jordan, the following articles are prohibited for importation under any circumstances:
  • Narcotics/illegal drugs
  • Pornography and subversive material
  • Explosives, ammunitions and weapons
  • Alcohol

RESTRICTED ITEMS

Some articles are limited to certain quantities or require special authorization/payments of duties and taxes to clear customs in Jordan. These items include, but are not limited to:
  • Electronics, radios, video cameras, and musical instruments
  • New items (dutiable)
  • Computers, fax machines and other home office equipment
  • Wireless phones ( must be inspected by the Telecommunications Department and meet regulations)
  • Satellite & wireless equipment, CB radios and walkie talkies (must be approved by the Radio and TV Corporation)
  • Household appliances and carpets
  • CDs, DVDs, videos and tapes
  • Tobacco

MOTOR VEHICLE REGULATIONS
