Barringer Moving & Storage LLC

Very expensive!

We used Barringer a month ago to move us. I wouldn't give them 5 stars for several reasons I'll address but they were professional and nice and moved us without any damage. I am over a month out and still looking for items that were either packed incorrectly, labeled wrong or put in the wrong rooms. We originally wanted Barringer to pack everything and move us but decided to pack the majority or our items prior to our move. We were told the more we packed ourselves, the cheaper it would be, but that was a lie! We also were quoted a very large storage building in our original quote and decided to rent a uhaul and pack it ourselves. Thank God we did that because our final price would have definitely been way over the original quote. When the movers arrived, they took the boxes we already packed and labeled and put them inside their very expensive wardrobe boxes and then charged us to pack those boxes and for the box itself. To me that feels like they want to only use their boxes and to increase the cost of moving as much as possible. I am very disappointed with how they packed. It would be very different if we hadn't already packed the majority of our items. They also did not put boxes that were clearly labeled in the correct place. We moved from a 1600 square foot house to a 3k square foot house and they couldn't fit everything in the new house. I had to come in and move stuff around. They basically threw boxes wherever they landed. Moving is expensive and this move was very expensive (over 10k). We were charged well over a thousand dollars just for boxes. We were then charged $135 a day per truck for storage which amounted to thousands as well. To me that's a complete rip off. Had we only been charged for what needed to be boxed that wasn't already boxed and just the move it would be a bit more justifiable but we paid over 4k for storage and boxes. Looking back, we would definitely do things differently and hire a bunch of teenagers, rent a couple uhauls and move ourselves. The movers did scuff some walls but otherwise they were polite. We probably wouldn't use them again due to outrageous pricing. Overall, I would rate them 2 out of 5 stars. They are very expensive so be prepared to pay thousands. Read more

Broken Promises

A quote is a rough estimate but when you have a company sending more people then they quoted you for and then charging you for things you didn’t ask for, you end up paying through the nose. I’ve never been in a situation where what has been said by a company is so thoroughly different from one person to another. And while it is minor in comparison having a 100 year old bottle of alcohol that’s worth atlas’s too $650 in a good day attempted to be be charged in you for their time to clean it up. I just have no way to recommend this companies service for even the most minor of packing or moving jobs. Read more

I have moved 10 times in the last 9 years. Moving is such a pain and for me, the biggest stress is the trust (or lack thereof) in the moving company you choose. I've spent countless hours reviewing and selecting the right moving company with each move. For the most part, I've been lucky and my due diligence has paid off. There hasn't been anyone terrible on my list, but one has stood out far and above the others: Barringer Moving and Storage. I received a quote for a long distance move (from North Carolina to Florida). I planned to store my belongings for only 3-6 months. Had a harder time than expected finding a new home in Florida and ended up storing my furniture for over a year. Chris was incredibly easy to work with, friendly and by the end of my process I had total trust in his team. The pick up was great. I remember saying if it's this easy by the time they dropped everything off, I'd be thrilled. And it was. It was the same team that delivered everything in Florida and they were top notch. On time, incredibly friendly, reliable, careful with my fragile furniture and honest. In fact, when they were about to bring in my furniture to my new house in Florida, he mentioned that one chair had a damaged leg from the move. He said this before bringing anything in and it gave me trust that they had kept close tabs on everything along the way, and he was forthcoming with the needed repair before I even saw it. So many other movers could have tried to let it slip under the radar. When I got in touch with Chris about the reimbursement, the check in full was in the mail the next day. I can't say enough about this company. I have no reason to tout them except for they deserved a glowing review. They made my move so easy and carefree. It's honest, hardworking and genuine people like Chris and his team that you want to support and recognize when it comes to good work.
