scam
We booked a move through this company for 12.30.2022. We paid $1119 deposit via credit card. We were quoted roughly $2800 for the move. We were promised many other things - we would not be charged for stairs, etc. We were not told they are BROKERS, not movers. They contract with movers who do not abide by any of the things they promised. Our movers were scheduled for 9am showed up at 10pm, argued with us about the size of our boxes for an hour, tried to charge us around $6000, and then LEFT and refused to do the move even AFTER we agreed to pay them. It was clearly a con. We had gone over our inventory with the brokers and they deliberately quoted low. Since we do not have any cancellation in writing, it's our word against theirs. We are currently deep in a dispute trying to get our money back and they are good con artists who know EVERY loophole to try to prevent our credit card company from winning the dispute. We signed a contract that says we agree to pay for services rendered (the contracting of a moving company) and now have to prove, without anything in writing, that the movers they sent did not follow their policies and actually cancelled on US and then did not call us back when we tried to get them to come the next day. They are honestly just terrible people. This company is a scam and DO NOT fall for their lowball sales tactics. Read more

Signed us up for spam emails when we ...
Scam. They are brokers who will misquote you intentionally, because the only service they *actually* promise you is that a mover will show up. Their “quote” is just a lowball number to commit you to a nonrefundable deposit. This means that if they connect you with a mover, the contract is “fulfilled” (don’t believe what they say, read it). Your deposit is nonrefundable regardless of whether you actually complete the move. So the mover will show up,triple the price (they will say the brokers quote was wrong or you have more stuff than you said). And you will either have to pay more,or lose your deposit. In our case, the movers actually REFUSED to do the move and we are still fighting to get a refund. City Movers has been a nightmare. When we filed a dispute with them, their sales GM (I think his name was Jason) told us “come down to Florida and fight us” and then signed us up for hundreds of spam calls and emails, including signing us up for plastic surgery consultations. I wish I was kidding. He actually went online, found a local plastic surgeon in the city were moving to,and submitted a plastic surgery consultation request with my phone number. I wasn’t even the customer—it was my husband. I was the 2nd point of contact and never spoke to anyone at the company. You don’t want people like that near your house, let alone inside it,touching your personal belongings. Read more

Stay away - for your own sake
We have not often regretted doing business with a company so much as i do with city moving group. From the always increasing prices to poor communication, we feel horrible about giving ANY money to this company and those associated with the company. We truly would have been better off paying thousands more with a company that provides smooth and effective customer service - from the bottom to the top. Movers - the labor - barely communicate and when so, ineffectively. Our delivery movers were abusive, threatening, and vulgar. Once the mover got up in my face, puffed out his chest and said "I am from New Jersey! I have no problem driving away with your stuff. Try me. " - the guy was within 2 inches of me shouting. They made inappropriate remarks to my girlfriend - out of the blue asking her "Why don't you smile?". CityMovingGroup offered a $400 credit, but in the confusion I had with their emails and the stress of the move, I missed their arbitrary deadline to accept the offer. Now they flatly refuse because 'doing the right thing' has a time limit. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - and I've moved 17 times in 35 years; even international 4 times and nothing has been this bad. Please, please do not use this service. Read more

This company stole my deposit. I paid 1332 for a potential move. I called and cancelled within 24hrs. This trash moving company charges 15% for credit processing and routing fee, so they tried to steal 200$ from me. However when I called I advised this is all tentative I paid the deposit in good faith. I was wrong. They never refunded me after I signed a refund agreement where I would lose my 200$ even though nothing was routed my things weren't ever picked up. I hired Lexense to get my money back. I have a court date coming we know they wont show up for. So Im going to get my money back. However DONT DELA WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL Read more
