They Worked Hard But It Was Over ...

I think we had four guys come. They worked hard, I mean... there certainly was no problem with the movers. My estimate for how much it would cost was about-- was under $1,000. The actual price, we had a couple things that glitched which added a couple of hours, but it still, even without that, it would have cost over $2,200. It was more than double what our estimate was. And it wasn't that the guys weren't working hard, I think that the estimate may have underestimated just how long it would have taken. We had a lot of stuff.

Way-off estimate!

Estimate was way over what they wanted, It was supposed to be a $450 job, ended up being a $1,200.

Quoted me a price then charged me ...

I just wasn't happy with them. They quoted me a price and then charged me more. I just thought it was a little bit of an unfair thing.

I was charged double what I was ...

The moving company did a good job, however, the quote they gave me was nothing like I wound up being charged. They quoted me $685 or something like that and I wound up spending considerably more. So I wasn't super thrilled about that. They wound up charging me $1,445 I believe ... Then I had to tip the guys too, so there was $200 in tip money there as well. So it ended up being $1,650 ... I won't deny the fact that they did a great job, but the fact that it cost me so much more had me a little perturbed ... Just be wary of individual items being charged per item.

They were very good. They were very polite and they were really nice. They were efficient and got me here, and end February I'm going to need a mover again because I'm going to South Carolina.

It was actually kind of nightmarish

It was actually kind of nightmarish. It was very weird cause I moved across country many times so for us to be moving just town to town. They wrapped everything in plastic so it took them twice as long to pack the truck. They were very inefficient with the time. They doubled the time of what the estimate was. They were trying to demand money for things that were suppose to be included like packing materials and stuff. At the end they were rushing. They took so long packing everything and they didn't even pack it effectively, like I said they just wrapped plastic around everything. Yea [they did give a price quote] and they wanted almost double it. They took a lot more time than what was originally estimated and it shouldn't have taken that much time because we didn't move that much we moved most of the stuff ourselves. It was only a baby grand piano and 2 bedroom sets and it took them almost 10 hours.

***NOT recommended this movers*** Must avoid these guys. I recently got bad experience with these guys. Initially they billed me $1000 and after loading the stuff in to the van they threatened me to pay $2000 otherwise the luggage will be kept in storage so left with no option in paying that amount. At the destination while unloading from the truck the driver threatened us and demanded $200 otherwise the luggage will be left at the parking lot so again I left with no option in paying that amount too. Because of these guys ,I end up paying $1200 more than it was quoted. I strictly DONT recommend this company to any colleagues, friends and even for my enemies/viewers. If you are choosing "Continental Van Lines" moving company then think that we are buying hell on our own to empty our pockets/ to cut our heads. Because of this experience I lost trust on moving companies and in future I can't believe any moving companies on the binding price, until the luggage is reached at destination. I believe there should be some control on these kind of companies and drivers otherwise in future no one believe any moving companies. If they continue this kind of business then in long term no one will believe any moving companies and it will eventually impact to all moving companies business who is doing there business honestly. I believe moving companies are narrowing there opportunities with this kind of activities.

The foreman threatened me physically!

The pricing was nothing like what was promised. They charged extortionist prices for the boxes and used as many boxes as possible. It was $35 for each large box. They would not complete the move without paying in advance for what was due. The foreman of the crew threatened me physically! I almost called the police. I would never use them again.

They were extremely professional

The guys showed up on time. They loaded the stuff up in what I would consider a reasonable amount of time for how much stuff they had to load up. Nothing was broken. They were extremely professional, it was wonderful. I've moved a lot of times, various distances and these guys were great. No [they didn't pack] not really, they didn't have any furniture to move really, it was just boxes and the mattresses were already packed up and everything. [Nothing was damaged] not at all. They did [give me a price quote] and that's what the final price was.

I was missing a few things

They were prompt, the pick up was fine. Upon delivery I didn't get all my things, so I will be putting in a claim for it but other than that nothing was broken and everything was handled well. [It went well] other than I was missing a few things and I have no idea if they tried to find it or not. Yea [they were] major [pieces of furniture] like my head board and foot board for my bed which are big pieces and so the sides and the support made but everything else did not. A wicket chair, a pretty large gallon tub that had all my bedding and towels, and another medium sized box that had a lot of my dishes. No [they didn't stick to the quote] they charged me more. [They charged me for] the wrapping tape and tape they used to wrap up my furniture. In the initial quote it said that all that would be included or they would do the wrapping of my furniture for free or it was included in the price but it wasn't because they overcharged for it.

Total disregard for my personal stuff!

They treated my stuff with no respect. They damaged a lot of things, and because you already have a waiver that says they're not responsible for what they break, there was nothing I could do about it. One of my tables, my dining table, by the time they delivered my stuff to Atlanta, they only gave me three legs. I didn't find out until they had left. And when they picked up from NY, apart from the charge for the move itself, they charged me an extra $120 for the moving men that did the moving, which I thought was part of the original quote, but they said it wasn't. And at that point they had already loaded my stuff onto the truck, so I couldn't tell them "Don't do it." But there was a total disregard for my personal stuff... They were throwing stuff around, and I just didn't feel comfortable with the way they handled my stuff, at all.

It was horrible. They're liars.

When they got there they immediately changed the price of the move and charged me all types of tolls. He had confirmed two or three times before he came out what the price would be. The job only took two hours. The when I talked to the driver he very quickly hung up in my face. He said, "Let me get back to work. If you have a problem talk to the owner." When I called to the owner, he did the same thing. It was horrible. They're liars. They had a number of bad reviews similar to what I'm telling you now. It was a poor choice on my behalf.

It wasn't great, there were some price adjustments after the original quote, the price changed of course. I was pretty perturbed because it was almost double from what they actually said. It was consistent with what everyone was charging. The movers themselves were good, polite, and very thorough.

My move was awful, they were careless. ...

The pricing is all wrong, it's a gimmick. They say one thing, they say that they're gonna bring you like 15 boxes ahead of time to help you move and that's like part of your price and everything - they never brought boxes. They wanted to box everything. I had an ottoman, they charged me for boxes to put them in boxes. I've moved a few times and I've never had anybody box stuff up. They boxed and they taped everything. They folded my king sized mattress in half and they saran-wrapped it and duct taped it in half and let it sit there. It was the worst move. I'm still unpacking because everything is still in shambles. Nothing went where it went, like nothing was put where it was supposed to be. And they broke my mattress. They didn't open anything, they didn't put anything back together. They just left. I've filed a claim and haven't even heard from anybody.

They didn't tell me

First they were late,( hours)then when they finished loading the truck i'm told that I have to pay half of 1500.00, when I informed him that When speaking to Frank he said the price would not change and it was on the email he sent me.Anita forgot my boxes was picked up on 9/29/14,but I called on 9/4/14 for an estimate. The following week I called to set things up for my move, they did not tell me it would be 2 weeks before I get my belongings. So on thursday before the pick up day I called and spoke to Anthony and asked how long it takes he said 2-5 days, I Was led to believe it may before. Now back to the moving day,After mentioning what Frank said he made it 1300.00 then he said 650.00 is half of that.I was not told this before. I had to go to the bank to get more, as they had to finish loading the truck,as I walked by them the supervisor asked for a tip he also asked while we were in the apartment. They only had to load boxes and no furnitures. So I had to get more. They recieved $650.00 plus $100.00 tip andI'm still waiting for my things one week and 2 days. I was told they left on sunday and my things are not the only things on the truck they have others to deliver, and they will reach me on Friday of this week l hope they don't insist on a tip. What can be done about this? They didn't tell me they take several others belongings along with mine.

Overcharged me and they scratched my ...

I wasn't satisfied. They overcharged me, on the phone when I spoke to them they told me that everything was going to cost me a certain amount and when the movers got here, they said it was going to cost a lot more. I had to pay them a lot more to leave my furniture here. They scratched my bedroom furniture, my new floors, my new walls and stuff like that.

The movers were gentlemen and polite.

They arrived on time,The movers were gentlemen and polite. They explained everything to me and my husband. team was efficient, careful and honest with any questions I had. They professionally wrapped all of my personal belongings including items that were of sentimental value. At delivery, all my items were delivered in excellent condition. A different team did the delivery and they were just as pleasant as the pick up team. Thank you, I'm going to call them again when I have to move. God job

Worst people to do business with

Received quotes from 3 different moving companies, Frank and Anthony sounded professional and seemed like they knew what they were doing, so I had choose this company... Worst mistake ever, If you do choose to use this company be aware! They sent 2 guys out that did not understand English and charged me for everything from boxes to tape and tolls. This was not explained to me at the time of setting up the pick up. I was told that I would get 15 free boxes and that there was a 5% fuel cost that's it. After the movers (did not speak English) put all the items on the truck then the calculator came out and was way over what I was quoted. I asked what this was about, and he stated that what I have received in the e-mail was a quote and not a actual price. Also he charged me for extra weight. The mover guessed that I was over 300 lbs. Wait it does get worse. After I received my delivery late, I am missing a yellow dyson vacuum... bright yellow! and in its place is a women's 5x8 painting. Mistakes happen I understand, I called and explained there has been a mistake and I am missing my vacuum and I have someone's painting. Everyone in this office can not speak nor understand English! I can go on and on about this company but I would rather just tell you STAY AWAY! Very BAD business. P.S. 3 weeks and still getting the run around of my missing item not to mention the broken items in my boxes.

he staff is polite and courteous, Very competitive rate and They called prior the schedule date to confirm delivery went smooth as can be and i got every piece. Service is top class with on time delivery i would use them again in the future.

Holy Full Of Cr*p!! In all my years I ...

I would never bother writing a review but this was by far the worst experience I have EVER had in any way shape or form with anything. First a background, we went from my girlfriends place, to my place, to our new place. Each stop was 1 block away from each other. We were quoted 4 hours @ $75 per hour for 3 men plus an hour travel time. So we were quoted $375. Let me tell ya, JOKE OF THE CENTURY. We paid, including tip for the guys because it wasn't really their fault, $1,600+. We were charged 500 bucks in packing materials. They brought a couple of wardrobe boxes. Everything else we had was packed. They wrapped her couches in enough bubble wrap to cover the state of Rhode Island. They charged us about 19 bucks per bubble wrap. The header of the bill said they came from Bayonne and they charged us 81 dollars in tolls. We are in Hoboken. I get that it is a large truck, but 81 bucks? Really? I called about the COI's, they said, no problem. Problem is, they failed to mention the cost of those. We needed 3 and they were 100 bucks per. Just so you know, COI is 100 bucks per. These guys do NOT give you the total costs. Just the very small base. Please be careful. The material costs were outrageous and I barely needed anything in my apartment. I had my own packing tape, they came in with like a 6 pack of it and went to town even though most of my stuff was already taped up. I totally didn't get it. I got a bunch of "don't worry about its..." Just to level set here so this review can be taken seriously, with moving her place, a studio, and my place, I had 1 bedroom of a 3 bedroom, I knew I was going to pay more than $375 bucks, so please do not think I was thinking that we were going to pay 250 each. I am aware of other costs and going over and all that. In fact, we went over 2 hours and the extra 150 was perfectly fine, I totally expected and understood that. It just ended up being over 1600 (incl the tip) and the whole experience just stunk. I highly recommend to make sure you ask for every single last detail so you know what you are getting. Good luck, moving is tough as it is, you certainly do not need this extra headache.

Take your money somewhere else

This company was wonderful over the phone. The representative was extremely helpful and courteous. Needed to hire a mover within days and they were very accommodating. All of that changed once the drivers arrived. The driver DEMANDED $100 above the quoted price and the tip prior to completing the move. We phoned back to speak to the original representative who was not available. The person that we did speak with said "it is what it is" and hung up on us. This actual move was only two houses apart and they thought it best to load all items on the truck and back it up to the other house. Once at the other house, they demanded payment before removing all items from their truck and refused to complete the job. They only continued after the police were called. Please! Do not use this company!!

I was grossly overcharged for my local ...

They gave us a good quote, however, they sent me a quote that said they were gonna do it for $450, but what they didn't tell me at the time of the quote was that they were going to be adding in other fees. They didn't tell me that they were gonna charge me 3 hours just for driving from New Jersey. I'm on Long Island, why would I want a van line from New Jersey? I didn't even know they were from New Jersey. All I had to move was half a mile, I didn't want to have to spend hundreds of dollars to get a truck here. Kind of ridiculous. I ended up paying them $850 (and I was really angry about that) to move literally half a mile. And that was because I refused to pay any more.

They demanded double the money in cash ...

We talked to Gregory,and he's supposed to be part owner, senior guy in the company and he said this: take it or leave it. That's what's shocking to us. You're moving furniture and your guy has come and seen it, he's measured everything, he's seen everything, given us an estimate right there and then. And then the estimate gets low where he demands double the money and on a take it or leave it basis. That's blackmail, total blackmail. And then he demands that $1,800 be paid right then and there in cash,and only then would he send another truck.

Yeah, I'm satisfied with them. They came on time and they were there they helped me. The estimate was pretty accurate. It was a good experience.

I couldn't have asked for a better ...

On the move out day the guys were great, really fast and nice, they did a good job and the pricing was reasonable. I've received my items yesterday after about a week. All is good! I would recommend them. Keep up the good work!

The guys made my move so easy ,was a bit nervous with the stories I have heard and was reading about from people who have used other moving companies The team was excellent though slow, however we'd prefer slow and thorough and careful to fast with breakages. I went from an estimate of $450 to $1,100. Then they wanted to know why they only got a certain amount for a tip.They couldn't prove to me why it was so much money. They charged me $35 for each flight of stairs. They would not move the furniture from the old apartment to the new apartment until they got paid, which I understand in a way but it still makes no sense because the truck was loaded so what are they going to do? Unload it and just throw it back at the apartment? So, I don't know.

There were a lot of hidden costs

The only thing I would say, even though they were charging 90 per hour it came out to 2500 which is a lot, because they basically charged us 40 for every box. There were a lot of hidden costs and then they were wrapping things that didn't need to be wrapped. We were moving literally 2 miles away from the house so it actually was not a very good decision. They were very good, very professional I'm not gonna deny it, they knew what they were doing but there were so many hidden costs. Each box was $40, it's ridiculous. We had packed most of the things but then the few things that were not, for those they were charging heavy. If we hadn't packed quite a bit ourselves the price would've maybe been 4000, not joking.

Very impressive service - efficient and helpful customer service, this guys are great! It was a perfect move with everything as expected They were very up front and reliable. When the boxes arrived, they were fast and efficient with moving all my stuff in and nothing was damaged. Price was exactly as quoted. Movers on both side were extra nice and everything arrived with in 7 days on promised date.I would definitely use them again!

Moving across country is stressful. This is especially true when you drive a box truck close to 5,000 miles full of your worldly goods. Movers were Well equipped and truly experienced, They are so respectful, fast and efficient.. My parents are going to move shortly and I won't think twice to call them!!! I would recommend this company because they made my moving experience extremely easy!!!
