Brief overview
The cost of living is just two thirds of the national average and the tax rates are quite low, but this did not encourage people to flock to Tennessee State. Among the factors countering the positives are more crime, worse health rates, and higher pollutions levels. The negatives made the state ranked third in the list of least livable states awarded by Morgan Quinto Press, an independent research firm that has been awarding the states ranks on various parameters from the past 15 years.

The state has given blues music, mouth-watering barbecue, isolated and beautiful nature preserves and, of course, Elvis. The people of Tennessee are known to be friendly to the tourists. You can be one of the tourist and escape to the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site at Greeneville, the American Museum of Atomic Energy at Oak Ridge, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Hermitage (home of Andrew Jackson near Nashville), Rock City Gardens near Chattanooga, and three National Military Parks.

Song: When Its Iris Time In

Written by Willa Waid Newman

Sweetness of Spring memories bring
Of a place I long to be.
Land of Sunshine calls this old hear of mine,
Come back to Tennessee.

Rocks and the rills deep tinted hills,
Three&apos no spot so dear to me.
Where&apoer I roam still it&apos my Home Sweet Home,
My own, my Tennessee.

When it&apos Iris time down in Tennessee,
I&apoll be coming back to stay
Where the mockingbird sings at the break of day
A lilting love song gay.
Where the Iris grows,
Where the Harpeth flows,
That is where I long to be.
There&apos a picture there that lives in memory
When it&apos Iris time in Tennessee.
