Brief overview
The 30th state to join the union, Wisconsin stands high when it comes to the Times Lifestyles Survey- they believe more in honesty and trustworthiness of others, and attend in a greater proportion to the town meetings and school functions. Added to this is the lower cost of living, less crime rates, lower pollution levels, higher education rates.

There is lot of water in the state – it ranks 2nd in lakes and 4th in the overall water base. The average temperature is lower than the national average in all the seasons.

The residents of Wisconsin are sometimes called Cheeseheads, because of the bountiful production of dairy products. Also find interesting beers and breweries here.

WI was the first state in providing pensions for the blind, aid to dependent children, and was the first state to implement the workman's compensation law.

Among the many points of interest are the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore; Ice Age National Scientific Reserve; the Circus World Museum at Baraboo; the Wolf, St. Croix, and Lower St. Croix national scenic riverways; and the Wisconsin Dells.

Song: Oh Wisconsin!

Written by J. S. Hubbard and Charles D. Rosa
Composed by William T. Purdy

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Grand old badger state!
We, thy loyal sons and daughters,
Hail thee, good and great.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Champion of the right,
"Forward", our motto
God will give thee might!"
