I have a quote from a moving company, however they currently have no reviews. Is it safe to book with them? Nice website and they have places where you can review, but nothing yet.

Hi, thank you for visiting Movers.com! I'll be glad to give you some information about how to choose a reliable moving company, so you can book your move without being nervous. If the company does not have any online reviews, there are a few other things you can look for to ensure the company is trustworthy.

Do a background check on the moving company

The Better Business Bureau is a great source for conducting a background check on a prospective moving company, and you can also check if that moving company is licensed, so have no fears about using them.

Here are a few other options you can consider when researching this particular company:

Check with the US Department of Transportation for the US DOT number. Every moving company is required to have a license and a US DOT number to operate. You should also make sure the company is registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). To do that, take the US DOT number from the side door of the company's fleet of moving trucks, or visit this part of the FMCSA website to see if they have a US DOT number. Then, visit the FMCSA home page to cross-reference the number with the number that is listed for that company on the site.

You can also check MovingScam.com, which keeps track of all moving companies who have been accused of perpetrating moving scams on their customers and have been subsequently blacklisted. This website will keep a list of all companies who have been deemed as "blacklisted."

Ask the company for personal references. If the company lacks online reviews, ask for references. If the company cares about good customer service, there will surely be former customers that can comment on the quality of service (even if the company is fairly new to the business). If they cannot provide any references, this may be a red flag.

If you go through all these steps, and are still unsure, maybe look into a few other companies before deciding to book. You want to be confident that your relocation will go smoothly, and that starts with a moving company you can trust.

Thank you again for visting, and good luck with your move!
