SCAM AND THIEVES!!!! DO NOT USE - They ...

They harassed us for MORE MONEY the day after they picked up our furniture. They held it HOSTAGE until they got more money. They delivered the furniture and personal belongings and broke about half of our china and STOLE a number of boxes of valuable china!!!!!!!!!! They ransacked my husbands TOOLS and stole his valuable items and then disconnected their phones! THEY ARE HORRIBLE I have filed police reports with local and Federal authoriies about their business practices and FRAUD!!!!

Dishonest and Bad Attitude

Only in Florida. I am a single women and I think the movers took advantage of that. They picked up boxes and threw them around like savages. There was no gingerness with my belongings whatsoever. They complained about my faux mantle and said there would be a bulk charge. NO ONE EVER CAME OUT TO GIVE A VISUAL ESTIMATE. THEY SUCK YOU IN WITH A CHEAP ESTIMATE AND CHARGE YOU UP THE WAZOO DURING THE MOVE. They don't allow your own blanketing, etc. THEN THEY TRY TO FINEGAL A TIP WITH ALTERING THE TIME OF THE JOB. ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED AND IRKED WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS EITHER. DO NOT USE!!!!

Dishonest estimate, didn't complete ...

Short and quick. We had a local move. The price they quoted over the phone was not honored because they added costs that weren't mentioned and packing materials are 3x the normal price. They were not able to fit all the items from our home into the truck and said we would need to pay for a second trip. We were in a 3bd condo! We opted to move the rest on our own. Finally, I had my watch box with $2500 worth of watches stolen. When asked about it they said, file a police report because there was nothing they could do because according to them everything was off the truck. Do they think when their guys stole the watches they would leave them on the truck? I just wanted to add to the long list of horrible complaints. Their claims form and department is a scam too. You sign a paper indicating that all the boxes are off the truck when you pay the bill, then they use that form to say they are not responsible for anything missing. How are you supposed to know if something is missing until you open the boxes?! You don't and they know that.

SCAM!!!

WORST MOVING COMPANY! These people charged me nearly 3x the original estimate, took double the time to deliver my items from Florida to Boston, MA, broke a sentimental piece of furniture, and lost my entire closet! my estimate they cost me at least $15k+!

They overcharged me

It was bad. They under-quoted and over-charged. They quoted $1,100 and charged me almost $3,000. I received all the services that I requested. The movers themselves were great. The workers were excellent but their misquoting and billing is fraudulent.

Organized move

It was okay. The pricing was reasonable. I did receive all the services that I requested. The packing was done to my satisfaction. I would recommend them. The crew was good. They were on-time and friendly to me.

Extreme Disappointment

The estimator underestimated the move, then blamed it on me. He told me I could take my trees, but the movers said that was illegal. So I lost my trees. I feel very cheated.

SCAMMERS-RIP OFF Movers

I contracted Am Van Lines EAST (do not confuse with reputable movers) on N Trask St-Tampa in April to move me to SE Orlando in May. I was quoted $427 and advised it shouldn't go over much more than that price-WRONG! I ended up paying 1389 which included well over inflated pricing for tape, bubble wrap, etc. The movers damaged my high end furniture and told me I'd be reimbursed...NOT! All I got was a run around for months and never received a penny stating I could not prove they even moved the items as I didn't have an inventory slip. In addition, I had art work and a foyer mirror that was stolen along with missing boxes. I asked them three times for a copy of the inventory list and subsequent times after wards as they indicated they would mail me one...NOT again! I have filed with the W FL BBB which indicated they had 52 complaints against AVLE!!! I also filed with the FTC and other consumer sites. PLS do NOT USE these thieves and research any mover BEFORE you contract. I thought they were affiliated with American Van Lies...NOT!!! DO NOT BE FOOLED!

Bait and Switch

They do not honor their word! They quote low to get your business then change the price when they get to your house, hoping you will be too desparate to refuse then if you can and do cancel they keep your Deposit! Its a scam and they are under Investigation! Do not trust a word they say!

An organized move

They seemed to be efficient. They didn't waste time. They were good. The prices were fair, I would think. The crew members were very good. They were on time. Packing was satisfactory. No advice for customer service team.

Shakedown Artists

This was a shakedown from the start. They saw an opportunity to exploit a senior citizen and took full advantage of it. If you do an internet search on this company, you ll find repeated complaints similar to mine. Please heed my warning and steer clear of American Van Lines East at all costs! I contracted American Van Lines East, Inc. out of Tampa, Florida to move all my household belongings to a storage unit 15 minutes from my house. A representative of the company came by my house and gave me an estimate of $315, which he said included the limited remaining wrapping required on my items. He said it was easy in and out in a couple hours. I signed the estimate agreement and provided a deposit to confirm the move. On the day of the move, two men arrived and told me the move would now cost me $700 because it will take 6 hours. They said I had to pay extra for bubble wrap and their time to wrap, which is counter to what the original estimator had indicated. When I called the company s office to protest, they said it really will not take that long and that they just provide the worst case price. They said it would more likely be around $450. Since I was already set to move that day, I said OK and the men started loading the truck. Three hours later, the truck was on the road with my belongings. About 2 minutes away from the storage unit, the moving truck broke down (the alternator, they said). They told me they had to have the truck towed away for repairs with my contents inside and they d return the next day to the storage unit to deliver my possessions. They assured me my stuff would stay on the truck untouched and secure. When they pulled up to the storage unit the next day, they were in a different truck. They had transferred my belongings to this second truck. When they opened the back of the truck all of the contents were strewn throughout the truck as they had hastily thown all the items from the first to the second truck. I also quickly realized that many of my items, including, but not limited to, boxes, mattresses and furniture were wet and damaged because there was a hole in the roof of the truck and it had rained in. It already smelled of stagnant water and mildew. I was distraught and began to cry when I realized how much of my stuff was ruined. The movers said they would transfer the contents of three of the wet boxes to dry boxes, but I d have to pay for the dry boxes and the time it took them to transfer the items! Prior to unloading anything, they told me they would not cover any damages and handed me an invoice for $660. They said unless I agreed to pay the invoice and sign a waiver releasing them of all liability, they would not unload my possessions. I refused to sign anything because the way everything was thrown around the truck I had no way of determining exactly what was damaged. They immediately closed the back of the truck, locked it and drove off with all my stuff, threatening to throw it all away if I didn t pay my bill a

Very unpleasant experience

Part of it was my fault, part of it was their but it wasn't very satisfactory from couple of view points. Number one - I talked to the guy that called me to try to sell the services. I told him what I wanted. I said I have nothing of value and I don't need anything to be wrapped or anything like that because if you rip something I can just throw it away. I don't have a damn thing worth doing anything to. He agreed to all that and when the movers actually arrived there, they said its gonna be additional $150 because we have to wrap your mattresses and your sofa. So I said no we don't. So I called him back. He told them they didn't had to I would sign a waiver to allow them to do that. After that they got quite surlily. The three guys that were moving - they broke my tv stand. All I really wanted them was to move the big stuff because I figured I could get the small stuff. I haven't got lot of money. I am a retiree. I had to pay rent here and I had to pay rent there and all that stuff. I was trying to get by. So I told them I just want the big stuff moved. What wasn't big, they just threw it aside. They didn't put it aside. They didn't do anything with it. They just threw it on the floor. Then when we finally got here to my new place, one of the guys stepped in with dog crap and tracked it right across my two bedrooms. When he discovered that, he cleaned of his shoe on my carpet and went back out. I said you guys got something to clean that up and he said no. I said What ! You just gonna leave that on my carpet. I said its a brand new apartment. He said I know that but we don't have anything to clean it up with. I was a little bit perturbed about that. When I left I said I guess there is no extra charge for the crap on my carpet. He said no extra charge. Anyway they went. So I called the guy back the next day that I have done the order through and I gave him all this information. He said the next time you call me I will send a different crew. I said you will never hear from me again. I tell you that right now. You will never hear from me again because that don't fly with me. I am paying money and you agreed to do certain things and then you didn't do it. I have a couple of things broken that they never mentioned that. I didn't discover till after they were gone. I wasn't very pleased with that.

Speedy and solid service

I would say that they moved our furniture exactly the way we requested that they move it, and very quickly. They also packed everything- from the TV, to dressers, to China cabinets, tables and chairs very quickly. But they didn't tell us that they couldn't move our stuff without double wrap and boxes and that they would charge us extra for that. So, we ended up paying more.

Great Movers

They showed up on time friendly and professional. guys worked hard and got move done ontime. the only set back was the rain. Never told it would cost more to wrap furniture to protect it from thee rain untill the showed up day of move. Overall it was a great move.
